The first story, Stormcast by Darius Hinks, is simply brilliant and I would suggest it to anyone curious about Age of Sigmar. I loved the first person view, it made the world all the more tangible, as often the magical, mutable nature of the mortal realms can prove hard to grasp conceptually. Most importantly, however, the visuals and ideas are fantastic, Khorne’s corruption and champions especially. It’s a joy to experience the author having so much fun with the world of Warhammer. It effectively communicates the tone of the Stormcast and Chaos through interesting characters while never feeling dull.

The second story, Scion of the Storm by C.L. Werner, was much less enjoyable. The characters, the main one especially, were bland and not engaging. The story was drawn out and predictable, albeit with some cool visuals. It had a lot of potential but was bland action schlock with a golden demigod Mary Sue.

All in all, the fantastic story is the first one in the book and thus makes the boring one irrelevant, so it’s absolutely worth a listen!
