Unnecessary Politics hits the nail on the head
Revisado: 06-24-21
Hemingway said writing is not right or left, its either good or bad. And this was bad and unnecessary. He said this while being touted and harassed by communists in the 30s. Will we ever learn? I have listened to Probably 90 percent of Mr. Connelly work and had been looking forward to more until now. You took this opportunity to insult close to half your readers and I do not need to pay any more money for your political opinions and I will have this credit back. I will miss Bosch. I have a hard time believing your not any smarter than this Michael Connelly. WTF.

Historia
After 9/11, the United States made one of the most secretive and dangerous deals in its history. The evidence against the powerful Saudis who coordinated the attack would be buried. In return, King Faisal would promise to keep the oil flowing and deal with the conspirators in his midst. When the king's own nephew is discovered funding ISIS, the president suspects that the Saudis never intended to live up to their agreement.

Not happy with this!
Revisado: 09-27-17
Having listened to all 16 Rapp books, this one has a much different flavor. Frist off, Scott Brick is a great reader, I've enjoyed many of his works. But he is not the voice of Mitch Rapp!! Much softer' quavering at some points. Mitch is a BAD A$$ and George Guidall captured him in your mind perfectly. Again not a knock on Brick. Also on reflection I can't think of one instance of hard language that Rapp / Flynn used to great advantage. Mills has
soften this one up too much. Mr. Mills please review past books, put the hard edge back and for god sakes get Guidall back as Mitch's voice.

Historia
It is 1781, and the British-held American port of Yorktown on the Chesapeake Bay is under siege. Pounded by the American colonists on land and the deadly warships of their French allies at sea, the once proud city is in flames and near ruin. But on the horizon, the King's own fleet of heavily armed frigates heads full sail to blast through France's blockade. Aboard His Majesty's swift flagship DESPERATE, midshipman Alan Lewrie quickly sets his gunners to their lethal work, firing rapid broadsides of 24 pound shot at the enemy vessels.

Historia
Fresh from war in the Americas, young navy veteran Alan Lewrie finds London pure pleasure. Then, at Plymouth he boards the trading ship Telesto, to find out why merchantmen are disappearing in the East Indies. Between the pungent shores of Calcutta and teaming Canton, Lewrie--reunited with his scoundrel father--discovers a young French captain, backed by an armada of Mindanaon pirates, on a plundering rampage.

Historia
A fighter, rogue, and ladies man, Alan Lewrie has done the unthinkable and gotten himself hitched--to a woman and a ship! The woman is the lovely Caroline Chiswick. The ship is the gun ketch, Alacrity, bound for the Bahamas and a bloody game of cat and mouse with the pirates who ply the lunatic winds there. But while war comes naturally to the young husband, politics doesn't.

Historia
It is February 1813. With convoys from Canada and the Caribbean falling victim to American privateers, Sir Richard Bolitho returns to Halifax to pursue a war he knows will not be won, but which neither Britain nor the United States can afford to lose. England's youngest admiral desires only peace. But peace will not be found in the icy Canadian waters, where a young, angry nation asserts its identity and men who share a common heritage die in close and bloody action.

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?
I have just finished Cross of St George and In the King's Name.
Before I say more, I’ve listen to the complete Alexander Kent Bolitho
series as well as the complete Master and Commander, Hornblower, Two
years before the mast and many many others. These two have got to be
the worst sailing books I’ve listened to by far. It’s hard to believe Kent even
wrote them. The story line is, well I’m not sure what the story line was! Rambling
and full of phrases used over and over from passed books. Retrospective and introspective at the same time. All previous books are 5 stars. I came very close
to not finishing these two.
Would you ever listen to anything by Alexander Kent again?
Yes
Which scene was your favorite?
The last one

Historia
It is 1819, and Captain Adam Bolitho is ordered once again to Freetown in West Africa with secret orders for the senior officer there. The slave trade has been outlawed by many nations, but a hundred thousand slaves are still shipped out annually, the profit for slavers considered worth the risk of interception by the Royal Navy. For Adam, newly married and as fiery as ever, Africa will bring reunions and unexpected allies, and a treachery that wears the mask of friendship, and threatens the very heart of all he loves.
