Historia
Forty thousand years ago, humanity fled a dying Earth. Traveling in massive arkships, these brave pioneers spread out across the galaxy to find a new home. After traveling thousands of light-years, one fleet of arkships arrived at Centauri, a dense cluster of stars with a vast array of potentially habitable planets. The survivors of Earth signaled to the remaining arkships that humanity had finally found its new home among the stars.

Couldn’t finish
Revisado: 09-20-24
All of these “reviews” are fake. No way this many people have 5 stars.
This book drone on and on and I got about 3 hrs left of the “climax or finale” and was just praying it got to a point. Never did. Had to go onto Reddit to read a spoiler just so I could stop my reading. The first book was soo good but the 2nd and 3rd are terrible. The constant “insites” about unspace are constant non answers that frustrate you every time.
It might have been the way the narrator voiced Idris but I have never hated a main character more in my life. Everything about the guy was the most annoying written character I’ve ever met.
Do not start this series. If you’ve made it to book 3 don’t read it go to Reddit and read the spoiler so you can have closure.

Historia
The boy has lived his whole life trapped within a book-choked chamber older than empires and larger than cities. The girl has been plucked from the outskirts of civilization to be trained as a librarian, studying the mysteries of the great library at the heart of her kingdom. They were never supposed to meet. But in the library, they did. Their stories spiral around each other, across worlds and time. This is a tale of truth and lies and hearts, and the blurring of one into another.

The galaxy is burning. With the Cielcin united under one banner, the Sollan Empire stands alone after the betrayal of the Commonwealth. The Prophet-King of the Cielcin has sent its armies to burn the worlds of men, and worse, there are rumors … whispers that Hadrian Marlowe is dead, killed in the fighting. But it is not so. Hadrian survived with the help of the witch, Valka, and together they escaped the net of the enemy having learned a terrible truth: the gods that the Cielcin worship are real and will not rest until the universe is dark and cold.

Alastair Reynolds always delivers. Perfect Dryfus is my favorite of the Yellowstone/glitter band books. Sad that this is the last of the wider Revelation Space books. Hopefully he comes up with something new.

Worst of the three
Revisado: 01-16-24
Such a waste of amazing material. The first book was amazing!! Such great characters and intriguing magic. But man the last two books are soo bad. My ultimate advise would be to not start the books at all. Bc you will get so hooked with Atlas Six just to have a huge let down for 2nd and 3rd book.

July 25, 2234: The crew of the Adamura discovers the Anomaly. On the seemingly uninhabited planet Talos VII:a circular pit, 50 kilometers wide. Its curve not of nature, but design. Now, a small team must land and journey on foot across the surface to learn who built the hole and why. But they all carry the burdens of lives carved out on disparate colonies in the cruel cold of space. For some the mission is the dream of the lifetime, for others a risk not worth taking, and for one it is a desperate attempt to find meaning in an uncaring universe.

Horrible
Revisado: 06-05-23
If you loved To Sleep in a Sea of Stars do not read this book. There is nothing applicable. Gives no insight to whatever the “fractalverse” is. There is little to no sci-fi. No real action or suspense. It is boring tale of someone going through grief. Total swing and miss. Please read other reviews and save yourself some time.

Confusing as hell
Revisado: 12-12-22
Too highbrow for me!! I’m sure more intelligent readers can discern complex narrative and insight…….I just kept wondering what the jell was happening the entire book. All the way to the end. There is no satisfying conclusion. No bow on the package to wrap things all together. Very strange POV story telling….which I think is kinda the point ? But just made it difficult to follow and understand.
Not for me.

Too long
Revisado: 11-08-21
Way too much world building for world building sake. So many characters for characters sake. Very little of what was written really contributed to the story an any meaningful way. It was a decent story that took an unexpected twist, but the twist ended up being less sci-fi and more super natural. All of the fantastical elements of the world and ships could be believed but then the main plot device (which took FOREVER to develop) was just bizarre and had no real thought behind it.
Would totally be worth it if this story was only 12hr read, but nearly 40+ hr worth of commitment makes it not worth it in the end.
