Historia
The landmark 1954 Supreme Court ruling, Brown v. Board of Education, brought the promise of integration to Little Rock, Arkansas, but it was hard-won for the nine Black teenagers chosen to integrate Central High School in 1957. They ran a gauntlet flanked by a rampaging mob and a heavily armed Arkansas National Guard-opposition so intense that soldiers from the elite 101st Airborne Division were called in to restore order.

Historia
Jennette McCurdy was six years old when she had her first acting audition. Her mother’s dream was for her only daughter to become a star, and Jennette would do anything to make her mother happy. So she went along with what Mom called “calorie restriction." She endured extensive at-home makeovers while Mom chided, “Your eyelashes are invisible, okay? You think Dakota Fanning doesn’t tint hers?” She was even showered by Mom until age sixteen while sharing her diaries, email, and all her income. In I’m Glad My Mom Died, Jennette recounts all this in unflinching detail.

ED Trigger Warning- Important, funny, & complex.

I loved this book so much and finished I it in two days, I think it’s important to note it touches on many eating disorder related topics. As somebody who has struggled with my own eating disorders in the past I found the book to be extremely readable and that brought me a lot of comfort. On the other hand, I did find myself start slipping into some negative eating disorder behaviors while reading and after finishing the book. Please read with caution if that applies to you.
