Historia
Being alive for millions of years means I'm rarely surprised. In the long expanse of my existence, I've been rescuing fossils for only a breath. During that time, my path has crossed with many different people—shifter and human alike. Some friendly, some nefarious. A hundred years ago, one such man graced me with his presence. He was one of the few to have almost killed me. Imagine my surprise when I see him again, buying the rarest amber fossil to have ever been discovered. Precious. Beautiful. Unique. A true treasure millions of years in the making.

Once again, this series continues to win. I had so much fun with Lance and Yu. Their dynamic was super interesting, and the flashback to when they first met at the very beginning made for a great prologue. There were some intriguing characters in this one. Characters that we previously believed to be evil but are much more complex and not as bad as we believed. I really liked that. Oh, and I was cackling so much when Lance finally revealed his... mighty form. That scene was priceless and my favorite in the whole book. I love how Maz writes the change in thought processing when the shifter characters are in their dino forms. It's super interesting and gives good variation to the writing. All in all, this was so great, and I am so curious about what the next book holds for Montana and Henry.

Historia
Running into your one night stand is always awkward. It's especially awkward when said hunky hookup pulls you into a secret war over fossils and a kidnapped, newly awakened Albertosaurus shifter. As if my life wasn't already a mess (understatement), now I'm cruising through Canada hunting down an ancient monster who tried to kill us, attempting to get my social media career off the ground, and ignoring my feelings for my one time fling.

An amazing addition to an amazing series!

Another win in this amazing series. I never really thought I would find a series about dinosaur shifters to be so amazing, but here we are. Maz Maddox can not lose, apparently. And I honestly think Royal and Blaise are my favorite so far. Especially Blaise. I was cackling when he dresses Royal, Dalton, and Simon in drag. Dalton, the ADHD ridden utahraptor, really just rolls with the punches. Royal and Blaise's dynamic was so sweet. As much as I loved them, my one qualm here was, what felt like, the sudden leap to soulmates. Gave me a bit of whiplash. That said, I absolutely loved this book, and I look forward to continuing this series!

Trapped on a cruise ship with a man I absolutely hate is not how I wanted to spend this fake honeymoon. Especially when my "fiance" has a deadly ex on the same boat. Jackson is everything I'm not: brash, careless, and a former fossil thief. But he's my ticket to getting what I want - the original Spinosaurus fossils that have been lost for decades. Now I have to play the part, win the fossils, and try not to kill him in the process.

This series is just so much fun. I definitely enjoyed Baha and Jackson as a pairing just a *touch* more than Simon and Dalton (but don't worry, I still love them). Baha and Jackson are the epitome of grumpy/sunshine, and I had so much fun with Baha and his orneriness while dealing with Jackson's shenanigans. Baha really gives grumpy old man vibes. The story was interesting, the adventure was fun, and the romance ended up being more sweet than I was expecting. Overall, this is a simply great time.

Historia
Holly Liddell has been stuck with crimped hair since 1987 when she agreed to let her boyfriend, Elton, turn her into a vampire. But when he ditches her at a gas station a few decades into their eternity together, she realizes that being young forever actually means working graveyard shifts at Taco Bell, sleeping in seedy motels, and being supernaturally compelled to follow your ex from town to town - at least until Holly meets Elton’s other exes. It seems that Holly isn’t the only girl Elton seduced into this wretched existence.

So, this is sold as John Tucker Must Die, but with vampires. And it's sapphic! I'm sold. This isn't a masterpiece by any means. It's a bit silly at times, and the world-building is a bit questionable with the vampire lore and whatnot, but this is just a lot of fun. I had such a good time. The feminine rage was a vibe that I was vibing with for the whole story. Who hasn't wanted a bit of revenge on a toxic ex? I love how Ida, Rose, and Holly created their own little found family out of all of this. Overall, it's good, not great, but a very enjoyable time to be had.

My standard issued lab badge reads "Simon", but it really should say "unexciting nerd with no social life". Don't get me wrong - I love what I do with a passion, but it doesn't leave a lot of time for much else. Especially romance. While chipping away at my work, I'm suddenly the person between hired cartel muscle and the fossil that will define my career. Which isn't the most insane part of the story. My savior is a chaotic, bat-wielding punk with a bubble-gum pink mohawk and a killer smile.

Well, this was ridiculously fun, and I loved it. I mean, come on! Dinosaur shifters? This was made for adults who were dino kids. This sounded good from the start, but I did not expect to love this as much as I did. This story had a lot going on. A punk dude bro and a dinosaur nerd go on the run together to save a priceless fossil. It sounds like the beginning of a joke. There was humor, adventure, plenty of shenanigans, and a little bit of spice. In the end, Dalton and Simon were pretty adorable together. And raptor Dalton is essentially just a stabby puppy. All in all, this was an absolute delight, and I was cackling through a good chunk of it.

Not to jinx it or anything, but the stars seem to finally be aligning for Will Cowen. After accepting a dream promotion at one of New York City's most renowned publishing houses and moving in with his oldest friend, he's ready to dive headfirst into this new chapter—that is, until he crosses paths with Graham Austin. No matter how hard he tries, he can't help but put the wrong foot forward in front of the all-business and inconveniently gorgeous heir to the publishing empire.

This was a super sweet and very reflective read. There's a lot of mental health rep going on here. We see a lot of healing and learning from the past, how to live in the present, and how to keep moving forward. Will and Graham are adorable, and I liked that this was a workplace romance without the sneaking around. There is zero angst in their relationship, which I really enjoyed. The vibe I got from this story is that it's very much about Will. The romance feels almost secondary, but definitely not in the background. This story has plenty of heart and a dash of heat. I really enjoyed the characters but struggled at times to connect with the story. I appreciate what was being done here, and I mostly enjoyed my experience. It just didn't vibe well in my brain.

Historia
When Neema Avashia tells people where she's from, their response is nearly always disbelief: "There are Indian people in West Virginia?" A queer Asian American teacher and writer, Avashia fits few Appalachian stereotypes. But the lessons she learned in childhood about race and class, gender and sexuality continue to inform the way she moves through the world today. Another Appalachia examines both the roots and the resonance of Avashia's identity, while encouraging listeners to envision more complex versions of both Appalachia and the nation as a whole.

Revisado: 08-21-24

This is a unique look into life in Appalachia. I'm sure when most people think about West Virginia and the Rust Belt, I don't think Indian or queer comes to mind. White, cis-het, and conservative, probably. Granted, the Indian population isn't booming, but they are very much present. Same with the queer community. We are everywhere, and getting those intersecting perspectives from growing up there has been an educational experience. Ultimately, this book focuses on how experiences during our formative years shape how we see and experience the world. I really enjoyed this read, and I'm so glad I went out of my comfort zone to read it. Non-fiction is not typically my go-to, but this was worth it.

I'm a simple dragon. Give me knowledge, give me research, give me rings for my hoard, and give me athletic men who want to get sweaty between the sheets . . . or anywhere else. Those things make me happy. Other things . . . well, who cares about those? Turns out, I should have cared. Or at least paid attention. Because I somehow signed up for a scientific study run by a shy, nerdy sorcerer with the body of a god. And the study just happens to be about my favorite form of exercise.

Absolutely ridiculous, but oh so fun
Revisado: 08-04-24

Okay, this was just so ridiculous and so much fun. Our sweet little f*ckboy dragon, Fabian, is just so clueless. He's so honest, even when it isn't necessary. The dynamic between him and the nerdy sorcerer scientist, Rhys, was priceless. There's banter and sass, and of course, plenty of shenanigans with the rest of the Here Be Dragons herd. There is a little miscommunication, but it didn't bother or upset me like it usually does. It was actually pretty funny and sweet, and it was resolved without any drama. All in all, it's a fun and enjoyable experience that's definitely easy for the brain. I love that.

For two years, I've been pining over Professor Sarris. I knew the moment I saw him that we were meant for each other, but it's not to be. For one thing, I was his student, and he's the most ethical man I know. For another, he has no idea I'm actually a four-thousand-year-old dragon from another dimension. When my people fled to Earth to avoid extinction, I vowed to clean up my life and stop acting like a fledgling. It's bad enough that nobody takes me seriously...sure, maybe I used to be flighty and irresponsible and caused a few interspecies incidents, but that's all in the past.

Revisado: 08-04-24

This was okay. I always have fun in this universe because of all the shenanigans with our ensemble cast of characters. I was definitely entertained and found myself chuckling, but this was a bit of a letdown from book one. Dustin and Rob are great characters, and they end up having great communication, but not a lot happens in this book. The overarching story wasn't really all that present and just fell flat. I stayed for the characters in this one and not the story. Louisa Masters knows how to do found family vibes well, that's for sure. And the banter and snark is definitely fun. I like hanging out in this universe, I just wanted a little more to happen in the story.

Most people called it a cult. But for 20 years, Josh and Caleb called it home. In Paradise, there is no television. No fast food. Just long hours of farmwork and prayer on a dusty Wyoming ranch and nights in a crowded bunkhouse. The boys of the Compound are kept far from the sinners' world. But Joshua doesn't need temptation to sin. His whole life he's wanted his best friend, Caleb. By day they work side by side. Only when Josh closes his eyes at night can they be together the way he craves. It can never be.

What a beautiful story. Josh and Caleb really go on a journey in this book. Both figuratively and literally. I love their dynamic. They care so deeply for each other and take care of each other in different ways. Caleb is a protector and Josh is more of a nurturer. Once they escape Paradise, Josh being forcefully kicked out and Caleb going after him, they have a lot to learn about the outside world. Especially Josh. They find a new community and found family along the way, which was so lovely. After everything they went through, they deserve people who truly care about them. They can finally be honest with each other in their newfound safety. They both learn a lot about self-discovery and self-acceptance throughout the story. All in all, this was great. I was so pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed this. Definitely check this one out.
