One of the great books of all time. Make sure to keep in mind both where Ms. Rand came from and the time this book was written. you have to remember she was a product of a communist state and times have changed.

I had heard about this title but had never read it. Even though Vidal all has always been one of my favorite writers. I can’t believe I waited so long to read it, because it was really great read. Great story great characters and a really enjoyable read

A simply beautiful love story. Any gay man who grew up before the gay renaissance will be moved, and the younger ones need to realize what their elders had to endure. Their obvious love for eachother has to be unrequited because of the social norms of the times. At times you feel all fuzzy inside, and at other times you want to cry. Elio's dad has become my hero -- he's so accepting of his son -- quite beautiful.
You needn't be gay to enjoy this wonderfully told love story!
