But life has other things in store - marriage, a love affair, a child, all in the shadows of the oncoming war. Disappointing ending
Revisado: 02-14-20
The atmosphere in the book feels very real, but the main character feels very flat. The last chapters are full of unnecessary plot devices that make the entire book unrealistic.

The ongoing disappointment of the formic wars
Revisado: 01-29-20
I keep listening to the series hoping for more character depth. While I still recommend Ender's Game and Speaker for The Dead, the current series feels so many levels below. The characters never really change... from one book to another, they repeat the same actions while the war advances. Lem stays Lem, Victor stays Victor and so on... It almost feels like the only character that develops is the hive queen.
The new characters in this book do not have an inside, only external performance. The characters we know, seem to think one way, but then the dialogue goes directly back to their good old selves. It's a shame. The story line could be so much deeper. A soldier's life in war is so much more developed than this.

Gardening is a very fun and interactive experience. Once you understand how gardening works, you will see that there really isn't much to it! Gardening is a fun way to get your children out of the house and keep them involved in something other than the television or technological devices. Gardening is a great way to save money by growing your own vegetables and it's also a healthy alternative to purchasing vegetables at the grocery store that are filled with pesticides and unnecessary fertilizers.

Historia
Ender Wiggin won the Third Formic war, ending the alien threat to Earth. Afterwards, all the terraformed Formic worlds were open to settlement by humans, and the International Fleet became the arm of the Ministry of Colonization, run by Hirum Graff. MinCol now runs Fleet School on the old Battle School station, and still recruits very smart kids to train as leaders of colony ships, and colonies.

Equipped with skills far beyond those of the outworlders, Rezkin has been suddenly thrust into a foreign world. The young warrior clings to his only known purpose as he continues his search for any information about his identity and the reason for his existence. While the hardened warrior scorns both dueling and tournaments, he believes some of the answers he seeks may be found at the King's Tournament, the greatest dueling championship in all of the kingdoms.

A bit childish.
Revisado: 01-17-17
The world and system could have a lot of potential. The Skills, The power composite etc... Really impressive system. But the relationships between the characters are very immature.
In fantasy world 20 year old men and women do not act like they are 13. Most people their age have families... I find the dialogues to be a miss.
The battle descriptions are actually very good and descriptive. These books read as really good action movies with really bad character development.

Historia
The first invasion of Earth was beaten back by a coalition of corporate and international military forces and the Chinese army. China has been devastated by the Formic's initial efforts to eradicate Earth life forms and prepare the ground for their own settlement. The Scouring of China struck fear into the other nations of the planet; that fear blossomed into drastic action when scientists determined that the single ship that wreaked such damage was merely a scout ship. There is a mothership out beyond the solar system's Kuiper Belt, and it's heading into the system.

stop dragging us through...
Revisado: 10-02-16
When you compare any of the prequals to Ender's Game, Speaker for the Dead and even the first few of the Shadow series, it is clear that someone is in it for the money now.
The storyline hardly progresses from book to book. The characters stay relatively flat. As readers we are dragged from one book to the next without any eye opening ideas, no real challenges to the characters and nothing that we haven't heard about before. It's disappointing.

Historia
The running man. In 1945, Hitler unleashes the Blood Death on Britain as his final act of vengeance. Hoke, an American pilot and one of a tiny minority with a rare blood group unaffected by the deadly disease, has survived alone among the debris and the dead of London for three years. Now, in '48, a slow-dying group of Fascist Blackshirts believe their only hope is a complete transfusion of blood from one of Hoke's kind. Ever more desperate as their deaths approach, they're after his blood.

Wonderful dystopian story
Revisado: 04-04-16
I read 48 as a teenager after visiting London. because of that story I came back again to see the city in a whole new way. Herbert became one of my favorite novelists. Hearing the book almost 15 years later with Slade's talent makes the book so much more powerful.

Historia
The Ankh-Morpork Post Office is running like...well, not at all like a government office. The mail is delivered promptly. Postmaster General Moist von Lipwig, former arch-swindler and confidence man, has exceeded all expectations - including his own. So it's somewhat disconcerting when Lord Vetinari summons Moist to the palace and asks, "Tell me, Mr. Lipwig, would you like to make some real money?"
