Historia
If, like Kane, you're a Denied Access Area spy for the CIA, then boundaries have no meaning. Your function is to go in, do whatever is required, and get out again - by whatever means necessary. You know when to run, when to hide - and when to shoot. But some places don't play by the rules. Some places are too dangerous, even for a man of Kane's experience. The badlands where the borders of Pakistan, Iran and Afghanistan meet are such a place - a place where violence is the only way to survive.

Revisado: 04-16-25
The book is great until the 4th part. Then it turns ridiculous. Narrator is great.

Historia
A New York Times Top 10 Book of the Year and National Book Award finalist, Pachinko is an "extraordinary epic" of four generations of a poor Korean immigrant family as they fight to control their destiny in 20th-century Japan (San Francisco Chronicle). In the early 1900s, teenaged Sunja, the adored daughter of a crippled fisherman, falls for a wealthy stranger at the seashore near her home in Korea. He promises her the world, but when she discovers she is pregnant - and that her lover is married - she refuses to be bought.

I expect little bit more depth
Revisado: 05-06-24
I was excited to listed about life as Koreans in Japan and different perspectives from “western cultures”. I like the first half of the book but I miss the depth of the characters and in the end it felt just as desperate description to finish the story. Generally I like the novels about generations but this was just not match for me. The narrator was really nice (soft voice) to listen.

Probably best book of the series so far
Revisado: 01-15-24
Unique plot and topic. I have enjoyed it tremendously 😊. It is probably the only book where I did not care about the ending as much as one of the characters mental state

Historia
Chemist Elizabeth Zott is not your average woman. In fact, Elizabeth Zott would be the first to point out that there is no such thing. But it's the early 1960s and her all-male team at Hastings Research Institute take a very unscientific view of equality. Except for one: Calvin Evans; the lonely, brilliant Nobel-prize-nominated grudge-holder who falls in love with—of all things—her mind. True chemistry results.

Good fiction
Revisado: 11-26-22
In summary I liked this book. It is good story it is easy to listen and it is catchy. However, in order for it could be a great book( 5 stars) I would not to put in 6:30 character. I believe it little spoiled the story. Also I would be more interested in the scene how was USA in 50s :)

Love story but prefer other narrator
Revisado: 06-29-21
I love the story but I preferred the other narrator. (Sorry) only because this book needs to have more voices because it has more main figures. The narrator did great job in other stories, but as I mentioned more voices are needed here

With courage, grace, and powerful insight, bestselling author Kristin Hannah captures the epic panorama of World War II and illuminates an intimate part of history seldom seen: the women's war. The Nightingale tells the stories of two sisters, separated by years and experience, by ideals, passion and circumstance, each embarking on her own dangerous path toward survival, love, and freedom in German-occupied, war-torn France—a heartbreakingly beautiful novel that celebrates the resilience of the human spirit and the durability of women. It is a novel for everyone, a novel for a lifetime.

Good story but poor directorships
Revisado: 03-07-16
Story was ok , but I didn't not like the narration. There is nothing wrong with the narrator/performance but as the book is "directed". I am missing pause between the stories. One have to be 100% present otherwise you get confused.
