wonderfully humorous characters
Revisado: 05-07-24
There is so much to like about this book, I don’t know where to begin. The depth of the characters makes you feel like they’re old friends or new friends that you just can’t wait to get to know. They’re down-to-earth and so humorous that you can’t help but laugh out loud. And then there’s the whodunit part—so many twists and turns that you think you have it figured out, and then you don’t. But you can’t wait to find out what really happened. This book was one that I could barely put down and couldn’t wait to get back to. I can’t wait to read the next book in this series, and of course, if it’s anything like this first book, I hope the series never ends!

This is one of the best series I've ever read or listen to.
I enjoy the characters of Cavendish and Walker. I think they are an excellent Duo and bring so much to the series. The story lines are always so thought provoking that l Usually can't figure out who did it until the very end! It is hard to wait for the next Book in this series and it's the only series that I pre-order, because I know that I won't be disappointed.

Very Good Story
Revisado: 01-14-24
The reason I gave this book only four stars is because I really could not like the heroine. I believe a woman living in her time and circumstances would have been more appreciative of events that had occurred but all she could do is whine and complain even when others pointed out the good that would come of the circumstances. Otherwise the story is very good and the performance is excellently done. If the heroine hadn't been so irritating it would have definitely been a five-star book.

LOVED EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS BOOK
Revisado: 07-06-23
I really enjoyed how this book was written and how the characters commented during the telling of the story. I didn't want the book to end , and I was happy to read there was another in the series, which I purchased immediately. you realize it is totally fiction, but that's what makes it so entertaining. I Enjoy reading anything about Sherlock Holmes. But the women characters in this story stole the show I think.. The narration was also excellent, so it was an all around 5 star, listen.

Excellent Mystery
Revisado: 11-14-22
Accidentally came across this book and so glad I did what an excellent mystery with excellent characters well thought out. This book kept me at the edge of my seat the whole time I couldn't wait to find out who did it I'd guess one character then I'd guess another character it was so well written that I didn't want it to end! So many characters that you can't wait to hear some of their stories I hope Miss Maxwell keeps this series going for a while because there are so many that I want to learn more about. The narration of this mystery was also excellent. I immediately bought the next in the series.

Revisado: 10-11-22
I enjoyed this story better than some of the other ones that I have read although I think they're all very good. This story moved along really well and kept me interested all the way trying to guess who done it the ending was very satisfactory! I really like the narrator Bernadette Dunn I think I'm going to try to find other books that she has read.

Will I continue this series???
Revisado: 06-06-22
I found it really difficult to decide how many stars to give this series.
The mysteries themselves were pretty interesting and I really liked many of the secondary characters especially the old biddies. The problem I have with this series and of course it just may be my personal preference is with the main character Gemma. I find it very hard to believe that she has an Oxford education and that she's 26 or 28 years old in my opinion her thinking process is more like that of a teenager. Quite a few times during the series I found myself saying "I can't believe she is actually that stupid"! it was so irritating that if I hadn't already had book 1 and 2 after the prequel I would have not continued with the series and after book 1 I was not sure if I even wanted to hear book 2, but since it came in the package I decided to listen to it. as usual I rolled my eyes a couple of times at Gemma but I really wanted to hear more about the old biddies and some of the other secondary characters.
The reading by Pearl Hewitt was outstanding! She does such an excellent job I'm going to look to see what other books she has performed.

I and really enjoying this series. I really like the development of the characters and the humor in these books. The character development is such that I find myself cheering on some characters and wanting to just do in the villain! This series is definitely worth every penny.
