I've been at big and small companies and read dozens of books on business and this is one of the best.
I listed to it beginning to end and it was a reminder of some of the best practices I've seen that have helped the orgs I've been on be effective. If you are a leader at a growth stage company or of a org at a large company this is a must read. I'm going to recommend it to my entire team.

Story of Creator Sets Free

Amazing translation of the New Testament. just finished and it was both familiar and fresh. The translation uses descriptions instead of names (e.g. Jesus is "Creator Sets Free") which brings the rest to life. also thinking about the Jewish people as a tribe was also was fresh.
I highly recommend to anyone who appreciated Eugene Peterson's The Message or wants a fresh perspective on the New Testament.

Author Edwin Catmull was a new name to me but he was there through it all.
I've heard the story of Pixar through the vantage point of Steve Jobs the entrepreneur and product leaders and John Lasseter the director and story teller but Catmull gives us a relatable vantage point to understand what made Pixar so great.
Some of the principles, lessons, and commitments that Catmull and the team at Pixar committed to can be widely applied.
1. Commit to the truth and candor
2. Hire for potential not current skill
3. Make it safe to take risks.
4. Make it safe for the lowest status people in the room.
5. Great people are more crucial than great ideas.

Deeply appreciated this work. I love how Bill Gates engaged the issue of climate change from first principles, driving an understanding that we need to get to zero to avoid worst case scenarios. He then identified what we need to and can do to get there. I hope, pray, and will do my small part to help us get to zero, and recommend this book to anyone who has the courage, conscience, and character to invest in a future for humanity.
