Historia
On an island lives a boy called Peter and his band of merry lost boys, young forever. That is unless they get sick or killed by pirates or eaten by crocodiles or unless - inexplicably - they grow old. For some of them do grow old, and nobody knows why. One of these boys is called Jamie, and he was the first boy that Peter ever brought to the island. Jamie's lived there for longer than he can remember, and it's not all fun and games.

Growing up
Revisado: 02-17-18
Would you listen to Lost Boy again? Why?
Perhaps, this fascinating retooling of a classic was totally enjoyable to the last page. However that said I'm not sure I would get the same level of enjoyment by listening again. Like good wine once uncorked it has but one purpose drink because it will only taste like this once. To anyone with a good imagination please partake you will not be disappointed.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Lost Boy?
The very last scene it will remain with me for a long time. In my opinion one of the great endings period.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
The revelation about Sal.
Any additional comments?
This is the first 5 star review I have ever given. I highly recommend Lost Boy

Better than average tale of war and how man attempts to put it all in the proper context. Much deeper than I had anticapated. Very plesant surprize. Highly recommended. Clark Taylor

Historia
It was supposed to be a harmless camping trip. Six wayward teenagers who'd run into trouble with the law, and their court-appointed guardians, Sara and Martin Randhurst. Three nights on a small, deserted island off of Michigan's upper peninsula. A time to bond, to learn, to heal. Then Martin told a campfire story about the island's history. Of the old civil war prison hidden in there, and the starving confederate soldiers who resorted to cannibalism to stay alive. Everyone thought it was funny. They even laughed when Martin pretended to be dragged off into the woods.

After 30 minutes I felt Trapped
Revisado: 05-02-13
This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?
Someone who enjoys mindless violence endless gore and all too predictable endings. I hadn't engaged something this dumb since reading Myra Brenckinridge in the late 60's, but as another great American character once stated "Stupid is as stupid does". I must confess I was very stupid to even finish this goreathon. Especially since I had figured out the ending within the first hour of listening.
What was most disappointing about Jack Kilborn and J. A. Konrath ’s story?
Believabilty come on could this entry have been any more camp? No
How could the performance have been better?
Stop trying to sound like one of the brothers from the hood. Finally I found the entire performance bordered on the offensive, and toward the end it no longer bordered in it but floundered in a sea not only bad taste . After the first two lines of dialog you knew it had no where to go but down.
What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?
My reaction was one of just how stupid did they (creators) think I was. I guess very because I finished the thing.
Any additional comments?
Not worth any more comments.

Historia
In the small town of Ptolemy, darkness is a living thing. A powerful thing. Its home is in the shadows of a bizarre, hidden club named Penumbra, where it is worshipped by followers who need the pleasure it gives them. They are addicted to it. They live for it. And they kill for it. When Aaron was first introduced to Penumbra, he thought it was just a secret club where members could indulge their kinkier fantasies. Bit by bit, as he learned the club's true purpose, he began to change in subtle, horrible ways.

The Darkness that sleeps within us all
Revisado: 04-11-13
Where does Darkness Wakes rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
One of the best and what a pleasant surprise it was
What was one of the most memorable moments of Darkness Wakes?
The ending even though I had figured out what was going to happen, it happened in a way that I found very appealing.
Have you listened to any of John Williams’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
No, but I will look for Mr. Williams when considering future selections.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
Perhaps not an extreme reaction for most listeners but for me and the type of book it is, my extreme reaction was thinking, and a lot of it, about the darkness that dwells within each of us.
Any additional comments?
A very good tale about the darkness that exists both inside us and outside us and just how closely related they are.

The Battle for Berlin was the culminating struggle of World War II in the European theater. The last offensive against Hitler’s Third Reich, it devastated one of Europe’s historic capitals and marked the final defeat of Nazi Germany. It was also one of the war’s bloodiest and most pivotal battles, whose outcome would shape international politics for decades to come.

Desperation: whose
Revisado: 03-24-13
What did you like best about Desperation? What did you like least?
the narrator. Kathy Bates is great what a talent, her narration makes this story What I liked least was, I felt there was way too much God in the story. Books that have God as one of the main characters has been and always will be a turn-off for me.
What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?
Who was really desperate and who was merely unhappy with their life situation. Least interesting was the God angle. I mean come on God is God and man is man. In my opinion when one attempts to mix and match this concept the interest begins to decline.
Have you listened to any of Kathy Bates’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
She does make a somewhat long and at times confusing tale of good vs evil come alive. Without her narration the book suffers. One of her best efforts.
Could you see Desperation being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?
Yes but I won't be watching, so who stars in it doesn't really matter.
Any additional comments?
King has certainly done better, but with Kathy Bates narrating it, the story does keep your attention and was an enjoyable listen. This is the first time a narrator has had this kind of impact on me. I will keep Ms Bates in mind as a excellent narrator and it will in the future be a important element in my choice selection.

This classic war memoir, first published in 1920, is based on the author's extensive diaries describing hard combat experienced on the Western Front during World War I. It has been greatly admired by people as diverse as Bertolt Brecht and Andre Gide, and from every part of the political spectrum. Hypnotic, thrilling, and magnificent, The Storm of Steel is perhaps the most fascinating description of modern warfare ever written.

The Side doesn't matter War is Hell
Revisado: 02-22-13
What did you love best about The Storm of Steel?
I'm not sure I loved anything about Storm of Steel. I feel the word love is out of place in this context. Storm of Steel is a view of World War One from a German soldier. I enjoyed the stark reality of what war is all about
What was one of the most memorable moments of The Storm of Steel?
When the lead character first encounter death.
Which character – as performed by Charlton Griffin – was your favorite?
The Lead
If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?
If you're lucky you will just get wounded.
Any additional comments?
Very interesting view from the German side however the overwhelming tone is one of incredible violence which almost becomes the norm, without much sympathy for the individual. Well worth reading if your into the history of Early 20th Century Europe.

Winter is coming. Such is the stern motto of House Stark, the northernmost of the fiefdoms that owe allegiance to King Robert Baratheon in far-off King's Landing. There Eddard Stark of Winterfell rules in Robert's name. Far to the north, behind the towering Wall, lie savage Wildings and worse - unnatural things relegated to myth during the centuries-long summer, but proving all too real and all too deadly in the turning of the season. Yet a more immediate threat lurks to the south, where Jon Arryn, the Hand of the King, has died under mysterious circumstances....

Would you try another book from George R. R. Martin and/or Roy Dotrice?
no
Has A Game of Thrones turned you off from other books in this genre?
yes most certainly
How did the narrator detract from the book?
poor, everytime the narrator began to speak in what i can only guess is local accents he became at times totally uncomphrehensiable. worst narrator in the over 300 books i have order since joining audible
If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from A Game of Thrones?
all of them
Any additional comments?
Some of the weakest character s I have encountered in some time when the reader or listener are able to predict every action and reaction of the main characters do, I feel the author failed to establish the believability of those characters and that was certainly the case with game of thrones. And the plot in a word silly.

Having inspired a classic film and Broadway play, The Caine Mutiny is Herman Wouk's boldly dramatic, brilliantly entertaining novel of life—and mutiny—on a Navy warship in the Pacific theater. It was immediately embraced upon its original publication as one of the first serious works of American fiction to grapple with the moral complexities and the human consequences of the Second World War. In the intervening half century, this gripping story has become a perennial favorite, selling millions throughout the world, and claiming the Pulitzer Prize for fiction.

An ageless tale.
Revisado: 12-26-12
If you could sum up The Caine Mutiny in three words, what would they be?
What happens when the wrong person finds him or herself in the wrong place at the worst possible time, and the ripple effect that works it's way through all those involved, namely a richly developed cast of characters who make you care about what happens to them. A great story presented in an equally great fashion.
What was one of the most memorable moments of The Caine Mutiny?
Without a doubt when the big wave hits the "Caine " at the height of the typhoon .
Have you listened to any of Kevin Pariseau’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
first one
If you could rename The Caine Mutiny, what would you call it?
The common sense Mutiny
Any additional comments?
