Historia
When two young lovers abscond from a Puritan colony, little do they know that their humble cabin in the woods will become the home of an extraordinary succession of human and nonhuman characters alike. An English soldier, destined for glory, abandons the battlefields of the New World to devote himself to growing apples. A pair of spinster twins navigate war and famine, envy and desire. A crime reporter unearths an ancient mass grave—only to discover that the earth refuse to give up their secrets.

Too poetic, lots of wasted time on paths that go nowhere.

Although I feel that may be in the minority after reading all the glowing reviews…. I found this book a slog to get through. Great concept for a book and I will say it is beautifully written if you like the use of adjectives and adverbs in excess! If only the stories were better linked together to entice the reader to care about what lies ahead. I found myself many times asking where is this going? If you like artful writing this may be the book for you. If you like clear understandable storylines this is not the book for you.

Historia
In 2059, two vastly different groups of people portrayed by the compelling trio of Brendan Fraser (Academy Award winner), Luke Kirby (Emmy Award winner), and Vanessa Sears (Dora Award winner) undergo cryonic suspension. While their bodies are frozen, their minds, still active and awake, are uploaded into a massive quantum computer. The first group are all astronauts, about to leave Earth on a one-way interstellar colonization mission. The second group consists of convicted murderers and volunteers who elect to serve their sentences in a virtual-reality prison.

I enjoyed this book but feel that it could have been so much more. I think some of the characters could have been fleshed out more. Otherwise, it was a fun listen.

Historia
The world outside has grown toxic, the view of it limited, talk of it forbidden. The remnants of humanity live underground in a single silo. But there are always those who hope, who dream. These are the dangerous people, the residents who infect others with their optimism. Their punishment is simple. They are given the very thing they want: They are allowed to go outside.

Boring
Revisado: 03-25-23
I have only made it to chapter 17. I don’t think I can finish it. Characters are poorly developed. Story,so far, is just dull. I had high hopes. Maybe too high. I may slough through the rest but so far it’s a struggle.

Historia
After water and air, sand is the natural resource that we consume more than any other - even more than oil. Every concrete building and paved road on Earth, every computer screen and silicon chip, is made from sand. And, incredibly, we're running out of it. The World in a Grain is the compelling true story of the hugely important and diminishing natural resource that grows more essential every day, and of the people who mine it, sell it, build with it - and sometimes, even kill for it.

Historia
On the planet of Per Ardua, alien artifacts were discovered - hatches that allowed humans to step across light-years of space as if they were stepping into another room. But this newfound freedom has consequences. As humanity discovers the real nature of the universe, a terrifying truth comes to light: We all have countless pasts converging in this present - and our future is terrifyingly finite. There are minds in the universe that are billions of years old, and now we are vulnerable to their plans for us.

Overall, it was entertaining enough for me listen to both books in the series. I would say it was a very ambitious undertaking by the author. Maybe a little to ambitious? I would have given it a better review if not for the storyline being very difficult to follow at times.
