Historia
The ancient Ojibwe healer Henry Meloux has had a vision of his death. As he walks the Northwoods in solitude, he tries to prepare himself peacefully for the end of his long life. But peace is destined to elude him as hunters fill the woods seeking a woman named Dolores Morriseau, a stranger who had come to the healer for shelter and the gift of his wisdom. Meloux guides this stranger and his great niece, Cork O'Connor's wife, to safety deep into the Boundary Waters, his home for more than a century.

Disappointed. The story was "blah"
Revisado: 10-23-22
I've read all or most of WKK Cork O'Connor series and was looking forward to this latest one in his series. The narrator though I am used to his voice was patchy. It seemed like, clauses were "patched" in. It wasn't smooth. Seemed there were some "voice overs that didn't flow. At moments at the end of the story, the narrator's voice would go so low it was difficult to understand.
Aside from that, the plot was boring. The purpose of the "chase" was not revealed until the end. I would not recommend this book. It was blah, the characters dull.

Combining suspense and intrigue with a wonderfully humorous take on the link between man and beast, Spencer Quinn's exceptional mystery series has captured widespread praise since its New York Times best-selling debut, Dog on It. The Dog Who Knew Too Much marks the duo's triumphant return in a tale that's full of surprises.

Spencer, please write a decent, informative ending
Revisado: 01-15-22
This is my .3rd Chet and Bernie listen, beginning with Dog On It, that led me to Paw and Order- entertaining. This book will most likely be my last Chet and Bernie. Chet is delightful with a lot of "dog" sense that only a true dog lover could convey. However, this book leaves a lot of unanswered questions. the investigation though supposedly with a happy ending leaves no wrap up. Basically who did the kidnaping and why. The ending fizzled. I though the same with Paw and Order.
My other complaint/ irritation with this audiobook is the heavy breather narrator. Can't the editors cut the every 10 second inhale? Yikes. He has a clear voice which is nice, but the huh, huh sounds that the reader has to listen to is disturbing!

Historia
In the seventh book in the brilliant New York Times best-selling mystery series, canine narrator Chet and P.I. Bernie journey to Washington, DC, and the dog-eat-dog world of our nation’s capital. Stephen King has called Chet "a canine Sam Spade full of joie de vivre". Robert B. Parker dubbed Spencer Quinn’s writing "major-league prose". Now the beloved team returns in another suspenseful novel that finds Chet sniffing around the capital city and using his street smarts to uncover a devilish plot.

Split Decision on the Quality of this Book
Revisado: 12-05-21
I enjoy one of the main characters, Chet the Jet and the author's ingenuity in this dog's dialogue. I read "Dog on It" and decided to keep going with the series, especially since I got a 2 for one deal. Both books have a mystery, but also humor. "Paw and Order" was enjoyable until the last chapter. Our hero kidnaps a woman (is that ok? I think not), there is no explanation as to who murdered the victim, how the gun got to the crime scene, why all these people were shooting each other; what are all these Russians were doing and why, and who is Ferretti? There's more that is so crude and ridiculous to the story, I can't mention it.
The performance and horrible unexplained ending leave a lot to be desired; too many "leave outs."
The narrator though clear, did a constant breath at the end of every other sentence. Why did the editors allow this??? and not edit out his horrible distracting breathing. "Huh, huh, huh. " It was constant and annoying.
I want to ask Mr. Quinn: after writing such a cute, sensitive, creative book - why did you do such a lousy job wrapping up the story? Who killed the victim and why???

Loved the narrator!! Not only wasn't he a "breather", his voice was perfect in inflection, tone, accent, etc. easy to listen to. The character could not be the same without this narrator's addition to the story. He was the story.

Narrator can't read!
Revisado: 09-15-20
Not only did the author know very little about enneagrams, the narrator was awful. Carl Jung is pronounced Yoong, not Jung. Carolyn Myss is pronounced Mace, not Miss. These were some of many errors in speech. I got to Chapter 8 and gave up. It was boring, the author's sentences were run on and he didn't have enough information on the enneagram. Don't waste a credit.

This book mines the rich history of the church for spiritual disciplines that have been largely forgotten in the practice of Christianity. After introductory material that considers the human longing for spirituality and setting a working definition of the term (To be enlivened by God's Spirit is the goal of Christian spirituality.), there is a historical and theological exploration of 16 different ancient practices.

The author, although not correct on everything regarding the Church, gives a very balanced view of traditions in the Church and explains them. I highly recommend this book.

From the beginning it gets worse.
Revisado: 07-29-20
I stuck with this book and it finally started to get somewhat interesting at about the 27th chapter. I had nothing else to listen to at the time or I would have taken it back. All three main characters were horrible; not likable. There was no one to root for. It was depressing, discouraging.

Historia
Actor Kelsey Grammer, best known for his roles in the TV sitcoms Cheers and Frasier, delivers Bitter Brew, a compelling mystery featuring Detective Bill Walsh, an upstate cop in the quiet, rural town of Beatriceville, 200 miles north of New York City, who suspects foul play in the death of millionaire city transplant Jonathan Kimball, even though the evidence points to suicide, not murder.

It was glued to my ears!
Revisado: 07-29-20
The best book I have listened to in years! I loved this book. I was excited to listen to it, didn't want it to end. Those seven hours went by way too fast. I have had to send more than one mystery book back this year because they were so horrible either in story or narration. But this is a classic, nostalgic, entertaining mystery novel with under tones of humor, 21st century and millennial characters and a roughish, sincere detective.
Many aspects of this book were special, but I was surprised and delighted in the end, when the crime was solved, the audio book was complete with the traditional detective music. Can’t wait for his next book!
Hopefully there will be more detective novels from Kelsey Grammer. He has an excellent narrator voice – with neither a slurp, a swallow or a mispronunciation, almost always occurring in audio books. His voice is clear, smooth, with enough inflection and pacing to distinguish the characters.
