Historia
He watched the boy skipping rocks across the clear, still water. From the cover of dense forest he listened to the childish squeals of delight as the flat hard surface of the stone met the firm unyielding force of the lake. Each hop resulted in an ever widening web of rings, each ring, larger, yet less intense than that which came before. Life, he mused, was like those rings.

I love the story, but…
Revisado: 04-23-24
I just added the Audible version to a book I really enjoyed on my Kindle. I still love the story and the writing, but find the narration uneven. There is unusual emphasis placed on words (or even syllables) that disrupt my being immersed into the story. I don’t hate it enough to delete it, but might not buy anymore Audible versions of this series.

Good story but the narration needs to be smoothed
Revisado: 01-30-23
I really enjoy Kathi Daley’s books and was happy to add narration to this book. Unfortunately the narration isn’t the best and will often pull me out of the story as I correct it in my head. I am not sure whether it was a director’s choice, or if the reader needs more rehearsal, but the reading is very stilted and choppy with unusual emphasis on words/phrases. I don’t plan on adding narration to any more books by this reader.

Different reader for this installment
Revisado: 09-28-22
I love this series, but there is a different reader for this book. Unfortunately she isn’t to my taste, but I am not sure any woman reader would suit me for this series. I feel that in trying to imitate a masculine voice, the characters (especially the monks) end up sounding pretentious and aggressive rather than humble and helpful. It is hard for me to be fully engaged with the plot when I find the reader doesn’t meet my expectations.

Not sure about this one
Revisado: 07-08-22
I am not sure if my issue is with the reader, editor, or director. Possibly a combination of all of those things. The female characters all sound like young teens rather than the mature women they are written to be, and this pulls me out of the story. I can tell that the “she said” and “she asked” phrases were all prerecorded then inserted as they do not flow with the narration, and that is jarring to my ear.
I really like Kathi Daley and can tell that this book is well written, but perhaps I need to skip the Audible version and stick with the Kindle version since I am not enjoying this narration.

Not as enjoyable as I expected
Revisado: 08-04-20
I have listened to all of this series, and In “Switcheroo” there is a different narrator than the other books. Unfortunately the change in narrators effectively changes the personalities of the reoccurring characters, at least for me. I find both Gideon and John’s voices to be nasally and whiney, and I don’t much care how this narrator does women's voices either. I am about half way through this book and will probably finish it, but I can’t say I am enjoying it as much as I did the rest of the series.

Narrator is a little uneven
Revisado: 01-26-20
This book has a different narrator than book one, and I am a little disappointed. Her reading is uneven, sometimes it flows smoothly and other times is stilted. The voices used for the characters seem to change accents from time to time, and that makes following the story more difficult. I have had to “rewind” many times to trace who is speaking. It is hard to be fully immersed into the story in this book.
