A deeply moving and scary story
Revisado: 06-06-15
As an individual with a neurological condition, this book touch me deeply. How Huntigton's disease affected a tough Boston family and how each
Member dealt with not only accepting their Father's disease, but their own uncertain future was too closed for comfort.
This is a great story, with relatable characters and great performance. Another win for Lisa Genova.

Outstanding!!
Revisado: 04-30-13
Where does A Storm of Swords rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
This book is definitely on my top 5.
What did you like best about this story?
What didn't I like? the intricate stories; the evolution of a great number of characters; the tragedy and the comedy. This book has it all.
What does Roy Dotrice bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
I think Roy Dotrice has put forth a great performance. It can not be easy to keep track of that sheer number of characters and to give each their own brand, but he has pulled it off sucessfully.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
I just gasped a lot. This is where it all goes down!

Historia
On a warm summer morning in North Carthage, Missouri, it is Nick and Amy Dunne’s fifth wedding anniversary. Presents are being wrapped and reservations are being made when Nick’s clever and beautiful wife disappears. Husband-of-the-Year Nick isn’t doing himself any favors with cringe-worthy daydreams about the slope and shape of his wife’s head, but passages from Amy's diary reveal the alpha-girl perfectionist could have put anyone dangerously on edge.

Love and Marriage..Gone Terribly Wrong
Revisado: 09-08-12
Where does Gone Girl rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
This title is right on the top of the list of my favorites audiobooks. My Mt. Everest is "Beat The Reaper" when comparing thrillers. Gone Girl is a worthy companion
What was one of the most memorable moments of Gone Girl?
Definitely when Amy (oh amazing Amy! so crafty) put her plan in motion
What does Julia Whelan and Kirby Heyborne bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
At first I was not convinced about Mr. Heyborne's performance, but at I'm listening, I started to appreciate his narration. They both did great.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?
Meet the Perfect Mate...Now Destroy Him/Her
Any additional comments?
This is a dark tale of two self involved individuals that had the luck and misfortune of meeting, fall in love and be bounded for life. For better or worse indeed.

Historia
At the center of Nemesis is a vigorous, dutiful 23-year-old playground director, Bucky Cantor, a javelin thrower and weightlifter, who is devoted to his charges and disappointed with himself because his weak eyes have excluded him from serving in the war alongside his contemporaries. Focusing on Cantors dilemmas as polio begins to ravage his playground and on the everyday realities he faces, Roth leads us through every inch of emotion such a pestilence can breed.

Suspenful and riveting!
Revisado: 05-08-12
This story was gripping and the ???villain??? here was a devastating disease that pretty much wiped a community and left others paralyzed, figuratively and literally speaking. Philip Roth???s writing can be ???precious??? at times, and his recurring character, Nathan Zuckerman, is pretty unlikeable; that being said, this novel did have all the elements (intrigue and a tragic and relatable main character) and was pretty enjoyable.
Dennis Boutsikaris is the perfect narrator. He brings the gravitas and the depth needed and his performance is just as riveting as the story. He is Philip Roth's voice.

Historia
Bruno Littlemore is quite unlike any chimpanzee in the world. Precocious, self-conscious and preternaturally gifted, young Bruno, born and raised in a habitat at the local zoo, falls under the care of a university primatologist named Lydia Littlemore. Learning of Bruno's ability to speak, Lydia takes Bruno into her home to oversee his education and nurture his passion for painting. But for all of his gifts, the chimpanzee has a rough time caging his more primal urges.

A Revolutionary Tale
Revisado: 05-07-12
This is a very fascinating book. It details the evolution of Bruno, a chimpanzee, from ape to a primate closer to its human form. I think this evolution was mainly possible due to knowledge; his craving for it and the availability and willingness of others to offer it to Bruno. There are elements to the book that are way too fantastic, as well as a bit difficult to swallow at face value. But overall, it is a story that exalts the best of the human condition, but using a primate as the main character.
The performance was great. Robert Petkoff is a very gifted narrator and performer; he could read the phone book and make it seem like he is reading early 19th century English literature. His voice changes very on the mark and slightly petulant voice he gave Bruno gave true life to this character.

Historia
Winter is coming. Such is the stern motto of House Stark, the northernmost of the fiefdoms that owe allegiance to King Robert Baratheon in far-off King's Landing. There Eddard Stark of Winterfell rules in Robert's name. Far to the north, behind the towering Wall, lie savage Wildings and worse - unnatural things relegated to myth during the centuries-long summer, but proving all too real and all too deadly in the turning of the season. Yet a more immediate threat lurks to the south, where Jon Arryn, the Hand of the King, has died under mysterious circumstances....

Epic!!
Revisado: 05-02-12
Full disclosure: I am not a fan of the fantasy genre, so I had pretty much ignored this book for ages. But after viewing the first season of "Game of Thrones" in one sitting (there is a silver lining to the stomach flu!), I decided to give the book a try. The fantasy elements are present, but do not take over the story; the author seems to be more interesting in developing the characters than to come up with the wildest, fantastic beasts that other authors tend to abuse.
This is a sweeping saga, with unforgettable characters (hard to keep track of the many names and houses and sigils, but be patient!). But at its core, it is a story of not just good vs. evil, but of honor, family, ambition and yes, human evilness. I am looking forward to the other books in the series.
Side note; do not get attached to anyone
