Revisado: 06-13-20
Enjoyed book & story very much - another sad war time tail of the Nazi’s. Having lived in England I enjoyed the names of small towns & London Places.
I truly disliked Imogene’s voice in the beginning thus the 3 stars on performance.

More to enjoy.

Chose eating on performance as it was hard to hear if there is any background noise. I often walk outside while exercising narrators voice a bit too low w/volume turned to high. Nice accent but...
Good story however wish I’d listened to Book 1st.
Ending not what I expected!!

Heart touching story of survival.
Revisado: 11-14-18
I listen to this story and laughed out loud on some of the comments Eleanor made and I was hooked on the humor to keep listening.
It was all but humor but a heart touching story of a young girl surviving a difficult upbringing of emotional torment, mixed messages with being alone. A reality of life showing that friendships are important, kindness and emotional touch for one to survive. Eleanor hit bottom not wanting to live and yet kindness showed her the way back to survival. In the end you cheered for the new, happier Eleanor!!

Historia
With ribald humor, wit, and incredible insight, Alan seamlessly moves back and forth in time, integrating stories from his childhood in Scotland and his experiences today as the celebrated actor of film, television, and stage. At times suspenseful, at times deeply moving, but always incredibly brave and honest, Not My Father's Son is a powerful story of embracing the best aspects of the past and triumphantly pushing the darkness aside.

If not sold as a true story I might not have believed the corruption
Revisado: 06-13-16
Hard to believe this kind of corruption is happening in our world! Greed, politics and lies...will it ever stop?
Yes it's shamefully happening in the US too!
Book well spoken w/ honest care, emotions and compassion.
