Historia
If it’s navel-gazing you’re after, you’ve come to the wrong place; ditto treacly self-examination. Rather, his observations turn outward: a fight between two men on a bus, a fight between two men on the street, pedestrians being whacked over the head or gathering to watch as a man considers leaping to his death. There’s a dirty joke shared at a book signing, then a dirtier one told at a dinner party - lots of jokes here. Plenty of laughs.

Love hearing David
Revisado: 01-23-23
I loved listening to David Sedaris, as always. But, nothing personal against Tracy Ullman, I’m sure she’s a lovely person, but I just cringed every time she started to speak, like I was hearing fingernails on a chalkboard. Why would you have someone else read for the person you have purchased the audiobook to hear? Please, don’t ever do that again!

Historia
In Joel's Schwartzberg's 10-plus years as a strategic communications trainer, the biggest obstacle he's come across - one that connects directly to nervousness, stammering, rambling, and epic fail - is that most speakers and writers don't have a point. They typically have just a title, a theme, a topic, an idea, an assertion, a catchphrase, or even something much less. This book shows you how to identify your point, leverage it, stick to it, and sell it and how to train others to identify and successfully make their own points.

I was able to learn a speaking skill that will stick with me. It is not overly long. The author has made his point without boring me, and I hope I will be able to do the same.

Bedtime stories
Revisado: 11-25-22
I enjoyed listening to this before bed with the sleep timer set. It is one of the very few audiobooks that I will probably listen to again and again. The vivid imagery and lightheartedness are perfect for relaxing my mind so I can drift off to sleep. I hope this doesn’t sound like a bad thing because to me it is a wonderful thing that I greatly appreciate.

Historia
Meet Ove. He’s a curmudgeon—the kind of man who points at people he dislikes as if they were burglars caught outside his bedroom window. He has staunch principles, strict routines, and a short fuse. But behind the cranky exterior there is a story and a sadness. So when one November morning a chatty young couple with two chatty young daughters move in next door and accidentally flatten Ove’s mailbox, it is the lead-in to a comical and heartwarming tale of unkempt cats, unexpected friendship, and the ancient art of backing up a U-Haul.

This book was so Human. It had the richness of character that I wish more stories had in them. The narrator could not have been better. It should win an Audie award. I feel grateful to the author and the narrator for giving me the experience of this listen.

No one creates characters like King
Revisado: 09-06-21
No matter how many other writers I read, Stephen King writes the most relatable characters of anyone. I am grateful to have experienced yet another trip, guided by the words of Stephen King. I was once again totally engrossed in his world of fascinating characters and happenings. Paul Sparks narration was pretty good, although I too found the pauses kind of annoying, especially when they were picked up by more than one character. It would have been ok if it had been just dumb Billy. But eventually it smoothed out and the overall storytelling was good, as were the character voices he used. I am really grateful that King keeps writing!

Hi! I’m Seth! I was asked to describe my audiobook, Yearbook for websites and shit like that, so...here it goes!!! Yearbook is a collection of true stories that I desperately hope are just funny at worst, and life-changingly amazing at best. (I understand that it’s likely the former, which is a fancy “book” way of saying “the first one.”) I talk about my grandparents, doing stand-up comedy as a teenager, bar mitzvahs, and Jewish summer camp, and tell way more stories about doing drugs than my mother would like.

A sure thing and a great palate cleanser
Revisado: 05-23-21
After going through several very unsatisfying Audible books in a row, I needed to find something that I absolutely knew I would enjoy, and this book was it. There was not a moment when I wasn’t entertained, from start to finish. And if I can just state here, I loved the movie “The Interview”, but if you didn’t like it that doesn’t mean that you won’t like this book.

Historia
If there’s one trait that makes someone well-suited to comedy, it’s being able to take a punch - metaphorically and, occasionally, physically. Told with a healthy dose of self-deprecation, A Very Punchable Face reveals the brilliant mind behind some of the dumbest sketches on television, and lays bare the heart and humor of a hardworking guy - with a face you can’t help but want to punch.

Really entertaining for just one book
Revisado: 03-18-21
I totally enjoyed this book except for Colin referring to pictures in the print version of the book that we couldn’t see in the Audible version and suggesting we go buy that book. I already paid for one book and I just don’t feel like paying for a second book just to see the pictures, so I took off one star in my overall rating for that. It had to be totally foreseeable, so I’m not terribly sorry to do it. I will miss him a lot when he leaves SNL.

Mostly I loved it
Revisado: 02-13-21
Listening to Neil Gamin read a story is a delightfully intimate experience. There is just something about his style that makes me lean in and drink up every word. Most of the stories in the Reader were really good. There was an occasional clunker that I would end up skipping and I wondered who would ever have voted that story into the book, but for the most part I enjoyed this big long book all the way through.

I’m sorry but I didn’t like the poems
Revisado: 11-22-20
I liked Mike Birbiglia’s story for the most part. Certainly he was great in narrating it. I liked one of his wife Jenn’s poems- The Astronaut. But aside from that one poem, I tried to be open minded about liking her contribution. Granted, the majority of Mike Birbiglia’s fan’s aren’t going to be poetry fans, but I found myself dreading them and eventually I just fast-forwarded them. It was a relief to clear past them.

Once Donald Trump’s fiercest surrogate, closest confidant, and staunchest defender, Michael Cohen knows where the skeletons are buried. This is the most devastating business and political horror story of the century. As Trump’s lawyer and “fixer”, Cohen not only witnessed firsthand but was also an active participant in the inner workings of Trump’s business empire, political campaign, and presidential administration.

The best portrait of Trump’s character
Revisado: 11-13-20
I’ve listened to about a dozen audiobooks on Donald Trump. If you really want to get to know the man, this book is the best thing out there. There were times that I had to just stop listening for a while, because Trump is such a low-life that, even starting out with an extremely low opinion of him, I just couldn’t stand to hear about what a cheap, egotistical sociopath we’ve had running the country. At the time I am writing this, Trump has lost his re-election campaign and is refusing to accept the results. Just as Michael Cohen said he would.
