Historia
Gloria Burtzlaff feared for her life one day back in April of 1991 when her abusive husband, Larry, drunk and violent, slapped her, hit her, and began pelting her with glasses. After he tried to drown her in a tub, she got the family shotgun and confronted him in his underwear. “Larry, I’m going to kill you,” she declared. Defense lawyers would later claim he lifted a glass as if to say, “Have at it, sister.” Have at It, Sister is a true-crime tale about Gloria, a South Dakota woman who shot her abusive husband and was put on trial in a precedent-setting case.

Historia
It's Christmastime at Marlow House Bed and Breakfast, and Danielle has a full house. When a woman, stranded far from home, shows up on the doorstep and begs for a room for the night, how can Danielle tell her the inn is full and turn her away? After all, it's almost Christmas. The woman makes quite an impression on the other guests, especially when she mysteriously disappears. Is it foul play - or something supernatural?

I enjoyed this story. All except...
Revisado: 08-12-22
I really enjoy this series. I usually stick to crime/suspense/mysteries. The added spirit aspect of these books is interesting and adds to the story. All the books in this series before this one I really liked but by the 4th book I found how "dumb" the police are portrayed to be a bit ridiculous. Asking all the wrong questions, believing far fetched theories but not stuff right in front of their faces. I understand Danielle, Walt, Lily and Ian are the ones to figure out the mystery but why make the cops seem so incompetent. Especially Joe and Bryan. They couldn't come across anymore bigoted. Poor crazy Danielle, Danielle the murderer. Come on. I'll still read these books just thought I'd add how I feel to my review. It doesn't " take away" from the story necessarily. It just annoys me :)

Annoying main character
Revisado: 03-15-22
I found the story ok but the main character was so annoying. Overly paranoid, full of herself and constantly doing the opposite of what she should. Are women expected to be this irrational? It makes no sense at all. The idea that someone is so ashamed of going to a troubled girls school is ridiculous and completely short sighted. Lots of people have troubled childhoods and those that get through it and especially those who do it in such a major way like this woman are proud to have come so far. So much of the story had no ring of sense. This is my 1st book by this author I'm not sure if I'll try any others. Other people seem to have liked it though.

Not sure if this is a series that audible doesn't list as "Book 1" "Book 2" etc. but starting with this book feels like the middle of a story. You can grasp what's happening and the characters they talk about but no questions are answered. Even the main ones the story is mostly about. I like series but I feel the books should also be able to stand alone. This book was recommended to me because of something else I'd listened to so I didn't even know who the author was. Aside from that the word "shivered" or a likeness was used way too much and some parts of the story and narrating I found annoying.

Historia
Jessica Fletcher has had plenty to worry about over her storied career, both as a best-selling novelist and as a part-time sleuth. But she's never had any reason to doubt her longtime publisher and trusted friend, Lane Barfield. When mounting evidence of financial malfeasance leads to an FBI investigation of Lane, Jessica can't believe what she's reading. So when it appears that Barfield has committed suicide, Jessica takes on the task of clearing his name. Sure enough, Jessica turns up several inconsistencies in the case against Barfield, as well as signs he might have been murdered.

So weird and not true to Jessica Fletcher.
Revisado: 10-23-21
The white house, the president , 1st lady and Jessica Fletcher? Come on now. The whole story is like a James Patterson book. The wording, the way the characters act and talk not a true Murder she wrote anything. J.F doesn't behave this way or joke about people who have been murdered. The narration was bad too, maybe because of the story. I think I've heard her narrate better in other audio books. Seth Hazlin's character was really not conveyed well. I wish ALL the older books were available on audible. oh and who edits the narration? Because they missed some repeats of sentences.

Really with the Maine accent?
Revisado: 10-15-21
I've listened to many Murder she wrote audio books as well as watched the TV seasons multiple times and this narrator is awful. Jessica Fletcher doesn't sound or talk this way. I can't believe this was written by Donald Bain. There is such a difference its like he forgot how J.F acted when writing this book. I couldn't get through an hour. The idea of the story was good but the ball was dropped big time.

Historia
Safely away from the chaos of Manhattan, St. Thomas, a small college on the banks of the Hudson River, is supposed to be tranquil, bucolic, and serene. Unfortunately, English professor Alison Bergeron has found it to be anything but. Recently divorced and even more recently without a car - it was stolen - she has been hoofing it to school. One Friday evening, two homicide detectives drop by her office. The good news is that they found her beat-up Volvo; the bad news is that the body of one of her students was in the trunk.

Too much crying and vomiting.
Revisado: 10-01-21
I liked the story but darn does the leading lady need to be so soft? Unrealistic much? Who cries at everything and vomits every time something "scary" happens? That just got way over the top and annoyingly predictable. Other than that the story was pretty good and I enjoyed it.

Not great.
Revisado: 07-16-21
It was very slow going. I enjoy mysteries and thrillers and this was recommended under those selections. However a thriller it definitely was not. The narration was not so bad considering how boring the story was. Also something that really bothered me was how marriage was portrayed. 2 people that fall in love only because of how each other look and then inevitably they change physically and in general and end up hating each other. That is not a typical marriage or these days who knows maybe it is. But it shouldn't be. I'm not an older person with Christian values either. So I don't believe my opinion is overy critical. It just seemed so sad and made it very hard to like the 2 main characters.

Easy listen
Revisado: 06-16-21
I enjoyed this book. It was easy to listen to and it held my attention. I weirdly caught myself rooting for the sociopath. But I'm an empath so. The story was good and the narration was ok. I'd like to see other books written about this girl and her smart yet manipulative plans.
