Such a fascinating and honest person
Revisado: 07-16-21
I really loved this book, the bluntness and honesty at every turn. l especially loved that Sinead read it. There were these moments where she chuckles lightly to her own jokes and writing that are so touching. It reminded me of how she sings, just so heartfelt. I can't recommend this more highly!

Historia
Food. There's plenty of it around, and we all love to eat it. So why should anyone need to defend it? Because in the so-called Western diet, food has been replaced by nutrients, and common sense by confusion—most of what we’re consuming today is longer the product of nature but of food science. The result is what Michael Pollan calls the American Paradox: The more we worry about nutrition, the less healthy we see to become.

great book, painful reading
Revisado: 12-18-20
excellent book about food and eating well. in spite of that I almost couldn't handle it because it sounds like it was read by Troy McClure. I wish the author would have read the book.

Historia
Emmett Atwater thought Babel's game sounded easy. Get points. Get paid. Go home. But it didn't take long for him to learn that Babel's competition was full of broken promises, none darker or more damaging than the last one. Now Emmett and the rest of the Genesis spaceship survivors must rally and forge their own path through a new world. Their mission from Babel is simple: extract nyxia, the most valuable material in the universe, and play nice with the indigenous Adamite population. But Emmett and the others quickly realize they are caught between two powerful forces.

Historia
Some Americans cling desperately to the myth that we are living in a post-racial society, that the election of the first Black president spelled the doom of racism. In fact, racist thought is alive and well in America - more sophisticated and more insidious than ever. And as award-winning historian Ibram X. Kendi argues in Stamped from the Beginning, if we have any hope of grappling with this stark reality, we must first understand how racist ideas were developed, disseminated, and enshrined in American society.

Another excellent book from Dr. Kendi, and a must read for anyone interested in the history of racism in this country.
