Scary Listen
Revisado: 10-23-22
Thus book is scary, not in the slasher jump scene scary, but in spiritual demonic possession type scary. The scene descriptions are fantastic! I didn’t start another book right after this one like I normally would, this one left me thinking. I truly enjoyed this book, it kept my attention. If you are looking for jump scares, blood guts gore, normal run of the mill ghosts, this will not be what your looking for.

So many great reviews. Why?
Revisado: 07-30-22
I’ve been a audible member for years, I have about 500 books in my library. I have reviewed maybe 25/30 books. I had to review this book!
I’m a gen xer, very well could be the problem I have with this book….but….I’m struggling to get through book 1.
VERY MINOR SPOILERS…….The lead characters are idiots! They are struggling with money as most people are, low wages and high cost of living. Social workers, I get it, see lots of bad things with families and children. They go to this forever long way from home to see a lawyer about and inheritance. Great! Sounds promising, they could really use it!! Well, they get a house, a very large house and a note. Weird, they barely making it now, how in the hell are they going to afford upkeep? Oh well, they go see house, yes, some very odd circumstances tied to house, BUT, the lead female characters over bearing attachment to her kid! For the love of god……stop talking about your kid like he’s to fragile to handle any kind of news…he’s 10! Time to let him experience some things! Lady needs to get a grip herself!
Also, if I get a house I cannot afford, and a note. READ THE NOTE FOR PETS SAKE!! That does not help suspension at all…..it leads to irritation for the listener.
I’m doing my best to get through it but this is one of the hardest books I’ve struggled to get through. I can’t get the naïve mentality of this lolol

Loved,
Revisado: 04-18-20
I don’t write reviews, but this saga hooked me from the beginning. This book covers the lives of the McCaskeys, extended family, their servants and others. The story brought out a lot of emotions in me, I’ve never teared up over a book before. This takes you through the life of this family in such a way that you’re drawn into the story that it is hard to stop listening to. The book is very well written, the narration is superb, I was sorry it ended.

I really enjoyed this book and found myself sitting in my car after getting home from work listening to more of it. I can't wait to start the sequel. There are gross parts but they did not detract from the story.

I really enjoyed this book!! The story kept my attention and several times it had me on the edge of my seat, that is something I cannot say about the majority of books I have listened to! I will be looking for other books by this author.

Worth Listening To
Revisado: 06-26-15
What made the experience of listening to No Stone Unturned the most enjoyable?
I personally liked how the narrator presented the book. I know some others on here did not like him, but his voice reminded me of those FBI files type shows.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
The outcome of the trials and the emotions that the actual investigation teams went through, not just the families.
Any additional comments?
There were a few small sections where the author jumped around so much at once, that I would have to rewind and listen to it again. This, however, did not make me not want to listen to it. I really enjoy this genre of book, and each author has their own way of presenting their story. Overall, I really enjoyed this book.

I liked the story behind the book. It was interesting and it did keep my attention, I kept wanting to know where it was going to go next. I would recommend this book, it is not a scary book nor an overly gory book, so nothing to get squeamish over unless you have a problem with mice.

Entertaining
Revisado: 02-28-15
This story held my attention. I did not find my mind wandering off like it does with some stories. The characters are likable, and well developed, the Narrater can be irritating, his style is slow, if you try to set your speed up to say 1.5, it is like he racing like a jet fighter pilot. The pauses between chapters is long, a couple of times I found myself wondering if it quit playing. But overall I really liked this story.

Good Story -- Irritating Reader
Revisado: 11-05-14
Would you consider the audio edition of In the House of Mirrors to be better than the print version?
No. I am sure the narrator does a fine job, but this book he literally drove me nuts!
What didn’t you like about The Soliloquy Man’s performance?
The narrator fluctuated his voice to the point that the was speaking so low you had to turn up the volume only to blown out of your chair with blood running out of your ears! Not really that extreme but you get the idea. The story behind this book is good, but the narration pulls away from it.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
No, after having to have my heart defliberated a couple of times due to really really really low narration AND THEN THE EXTREMELY LOUD NARRATION IN THE SAME BREATH...sheesh
Any additional comments?
No, other than the narration really made this book a hard one for me to finish. I think if the fluctuating had not been there, I would have really liked this book. As a side note, on the parts he was not either talking really low or SCREAMING, he did a fabulous job. I did not mind him at all.

What made the experience of listening to The Hospital: The FREE Short Story: The First Mountain Man Story the most enjoyable?
The narrator, he actually came across how I would see the main character coming across in real life.
Any additional comments?
I liked this story because it told it from the point of view of the loner. If such a thing were to ever happen there will more loners out there than "groups" . The book seemed very realistic to me if such a zombie apocolypse would happen. This is exactly what we would have to go through.
