Not her best
Revisado: 11-21-21
This was painful to finish but I was determined to see it through. So many pointless details; a lot of nothing. And so hokey. It could have been half as long and would have been twice as good.

Historia
It's 1947. War's over, cherry-print dresses, parking above the city lights, swing dancing. Beautiful, 17-year-old Violet lives in a perfect world. Everybody loves her. In 2012, she's still beautiful, charming, and surrounded by admirers. Veronica "Ronni" Johnson, licensed practical nurse and aspiring writer, meets the captivating Violet in the assisted living facility where Violet requires no assistance, just lots of male attention. When she dies, she leaves Ronni a very generous bequest - only if Ronni completes a book about her life within one year.

Don't waste your time
Revisado: 02-10-20
This story was mildly interesting but could have been told in less than half the time if she left out all the pointless dialogue. If I had been reading this book, instead of listening, I would have skipped over page after page to get to the few parts in the book where the story was being moved along.
The narrator did the best she could with all the sappy dialogue, but this felt like a Lifetime original movie.

Poorly Written
Revisado: 12-30-19
I rarely read sci-fi categorized books but I selected this one when it appeared in the Wall Street Journal's best if 2019. Maybe it's common in this genre of fiction books but the quality of writing made me feel like it's written for high school students. So many aspects of the story unfold so quickly that it flattens the overall performance of the account.

A Challenge to Get Through
Revisado: 09-10-16
I think this book could have been 30 minutes long and the listener could get the same amount of information out of it. While her ultimate message is valuable and so true, my goodness it took forever and ever and ever to get to the point. If there is a Cliffs Notes version, I'd recommend that!
