Historia
A pact is sealed in secret behind the foreboding walls of Newgate Prison. In return for one night of unparalleled pleasure, a dashing condemned criminal consents to wed a beautiful heiress, thereby rescuing her from an impending and abhorred arranged union. But in the fading echoes of hollow wedding vows, a solemn promise is broken, as a sensuous free spirit takes flight to a lush Caribbean paradise, abandoning the stranger she married to face the gallows unfulfilled.

Still my favorite
Revisado: 07-17-23
I read this in the 70’s and loved it so much. Nothing has changed. I still love this story. I wasn’t crazy about narrator rendition. The pronunciations were a little off IMO. Beecham Ugg. I love beau champ pronounced as such. Even Shanna’s name to me should have been pronounced differently. However overall I loved this story.
I have read all of KW books. She started me on my love for historical Romance. Till this day she’s a tough act to follow.

Historia
At work, I’m King of Wall Street. The heaviest hitters in Manhattan come to me to make money. They do whatever I say because I’m always right. I’m shrewd. Exacting. Some say ruthless. At home, I’m a single dad trying to keep his fourteen-year-old daughter a kid for as long as possible. If my daughter does what I say, somewhere there’s a snowball surviving in hell. And nothing I say is ever right. When Harper Jayne starts as a junior researcher at my firm, the barriers between my worlds begin to dissolve. She’s the most infuriating woman I’ve ever worked with.

Loved it but…..
Revisado: 06-27-23
I could read this story over and over. It was that good. I’ve found a new author when I was convinced I read all the good ones. However there were a few unanswered questions left at the end that I would like to have answered. Spoiler Alert
1. Where did Harper end up working after she left Max’s company 2. What did Max’s secty and other employees think about Max and Harper. Did Donna have an inkling? 3. She got Pregnant after sex on the desk? Did she stop taking the pill?

What the Helx
Revisado: 02-02-23
Where do I begin? This story had potential but it quickly missed a beat for me. The heroine’s relationship was to exaggerated to be believed. Who would stay with a man like that. (Spoiler alert: “ I have a surprise for you you’ll love it”. His daughter going on vacation w/them) she even rode in the front seat of a sports car throughout their vacation.
Second, her name did not work for me. Douglass was just to masculine. I had to keep rereading at the beginning because I kept thing it was the man talking or thinking.
Third, the author spent to much time letting us know how much research she had done. It became tedious and boring.
Forth, why in the world was the child swaddled up like a mummy, hanging on a hook and soiled to the point of diaper rash. Pray tell what was his nurse/nanny paid to do. And had the nerve to be offended when the heroine bathed him.
I could go on and on but I’ll stop. Not quite my cup of tea.
I am almost incapable of not finishing a book so I hung in there to the end.
Incidentally the ending could be construed several ways too.

Revisado: 03-15-22
I liked the story. The sex part was steamy enough. But I really didn’t like his accent. It didn’t enhance the story in any way. It was almost annoying. I normally like all of JG’s books. So I can’t give it a lower grade. Any book by Her is at the lowest a 4 star.

Love that Sebastian!!
Revisado: 07-22-21
This has got to be my personal favorite of all LK books. yes I have read them all. She’s my favorite author and it’s hard to pick a favorite. I’ve just read it again after several times in the past. I still love it. Evie and Sebastian’s love story is the absolute best. I want to note and this is a *spoiler alert. That IMO Sebastian in a way did also look out for Lillian (My second favorite in the series) by kidnapping her. Lord knows what Marcus’ mother would have done to her if he hadn’t agreed to take her to Gretna Green. Yes I know it was for selfish reasons.

Good book. Loved the story. My only complaint was. ......Where is and what happened to Finn. I feel there should have been more closure with him. I would still be looking for him around every corner.

Enjoyed this story.... but
Revisado: 09-09-20
This was a good story held my attention from beginning to end. I even read it twice because I’m sure I zoned out on some parts.
Some of the scenes were too long and drawn out IMO Especially the love scenes And I can’t believe I’m saying that. Some parts were unnecessary to the story. I had a bit of a problem with the ages of the characters but that’s just me. Overall a very good story. I also wasn’t wild about the narrators.

Ummmm Where’s the beef?
Revisado: 09-05-20
A little bit boring with some good parts thrown in. I finally finished out of desperation. It could have been so much more but kept missing the mark. I normally like MB books but if I was a first time reader I would never purchase another one after reading this one.
SPOILER ALERT
Even the one love scene was boring. No closure to his relationship with his mother. No rhyme or reason for his oldest sister’s actions. I have to say over all this book was disappointing.

Lisa Jackson where are you
Revisado: 08-01-20
I can’t believe LJ wrote this book. It went on and on with no point. If the heroine would have cried one more time. &$@$&. The hero was more of a detective then a lawyer. When a lawyer was needed he did not really use any legalize to get the children back. Why would anyone have referred him as a lawyer. There was no real chemistry IMO between the main characters. The villain never really got into any legal trouble for taking the kids How his girlfriend loved him I can’t imagine. Normally a leopard doesn’t change his spots. I was soooo disappointed
