Horrible narration!
Revisado: 06-25-18
I've listened to this narrator in the past and although not one of my favorites, he seemed to do an adequate job. For this book I think someone missed a few steps. When the narrator is switched do they not require the new narrator to listen to the previous reads before recording his own? Dick Hill didn't even pronounce the main character's (Kaylan) name as the previous three narrators had. Nor does he put the enthusiasm into the characters ( particularly Zed) as the previous narrators had. Does not someone proof listen to catch these types of mistakes? Regardless, it threw me off throughout the entire book but felt I had to listen so I knew what was going on in the next book. Looking forward to another in the series and yet another narrator change. We will see what happens!

Loyalty costs money. Betrayal, on the other hand, is free. When the Emperor is taken hostage, the Red Knight and his men find their services in high demand - and themselves surrounded by enemies. The country is in revolt, the capital city is besieged, and any victory will be hard won. But the Red Knight has a plan. The question is, can he negotiate the political, magical, real, and romantic battlefields at the same time - especially when he intends to be victorious on them all?

Confusing!
Revisado: 01-11-18
This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?
I listened to the first few HOURS of this book multiple times in an attempt to keep track of how all the characters tie together. There are many and most are very interesting but as soon as their storyline seems to get started an abrupt change occurs and you shortly realize you are in another character's story. Thinking perhaps I was not paying attention I tried again and again. At this point, I don't have another try in me. The narrator is great! The characters are good! Thank God for a return on my credit!
If you’ve listened to books by Miles Cameron before, how does this one compare?
Not as well
Which character – as performed by Matthew Wolf – was your favorite?
Couldn't say
You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?
Nope
Any additional comments?

Uh-no!
Revisado: 12-09-17
This was likely one of the most boring books I have listened to in the ten years I have been a member. I listened to almost 6 hours of it, hoping it was just a slow starter like some are. Uh-no. It is not. Your credit might be better spent on a book about Donald Trump!

Historia
Sasha is a fighter, the likes of which the highland country of Lenayin has never seen. Spurning her royal heritage to be raised by the great warrior Kessligh, Sasha's exquisite swordplay astonishes all who see it. But she is young, untested in battle, and often led by her rash temper. In the complex world of Lenayin loyalties, her willfulness is attracting the wrong kind of attention. Lenin is a land divided by its beliefs: the Verenthane of the ruling class, and the pagan Goeren-yai, amongst whom Sasha now lives.

Good first book but the second I returned.
Revisado: 02-12-17
Would you consider the audio edition of Sasha to be better than the print version?
Good 1st for a series although for the younger generations I think. The 2nd I returned. Too much battle and not so much character interaction outside of that. I would try the 3rd only because I have an option to return it.
What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?
Most was the characters. Least was the ongoing battles of the 2nd.

Revisado: 09-30-16
Where does Tower Lord rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

What about Steven Brand’s performance did you like?
He is a good narrator. Don't waste your credit on book #3 though. It's terribly boring!

Good story line but should be in the juvenile dept
Revisado: 02-25-16
What did you like best about Ghosts in the Yew? What did you like least?
the story line
What was one of the most memorable moments of Ghosts in the Yew?
.
Who would you have cast as narrator instead of the narrators?
The narrators were okay. Especially when I figured out that I needed to adjust the narration speed to slow it down. It seemed as though the narrators were speed reading for some characters and drawling for others
Could you see Ghosts in the Yew being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?
Nope
Any additional comments?
There is an epic story in this book but it should be listed under a juvenile genre as written

Great story! Horrible Narrator!
Revisado: 01-02-16
Would you listen to The Black Prism again? Why?
No. I don't normally listen to books twice.
Would you be willing to try another one of Cristofer Jean’s performances?
Absolutely not.
Any additional comments?
This is a great story line. I am happy to have discovered Brent Weeks and have enjoyed many books by this author. However, do they not listen to these recordings while they are being done? I would have hired a new narrator after the first chapter. Simon Vance takes over after the first book so all will be well. In fact, I drudged through the first book knowing a different narrator would be heard in book two although I normally do not listen to a series when there are multiple narrators.

BORING!!! AND PREDICTABLE
Revisado: 01-18-15
Would you try another book from David Farland and/or Ray Porter?
Yes
What could David Farland have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?
Not been so predictable
Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Ray Porter?
Narrator was ok
If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from The Sum of All Men?
All the taking of people's attributes. It got really old after a while.
Any additional comments?
I've been an Audible member for many years. This, I think, is the worst book I have tried to date. I would like to be able to go into profound detail as to why I dislike this book so much. However, not possible as the only words of description that come to mind are boring and predictable. I read a review prior to purchase and was excited that I had found a new series. Maybe the review was mistakenly placed next to this title?? I gave it five hours and could not take the predictableness any longer. Probably a really good story line and although there are several more in the series, I just have to stop the listen. Hopefully, I can return it and not have to waste a good credit on such a horrible book.

FitzChivalry - royal bastard and former king’s assassin - has left his life of intrigue behind. As far as the rest of the world knows, FitzChivalry Farseer is dead and buried. Masquerading as Tom Badgerlock, Fitz is now married to his childhood sweetheart, Molly, and leading the quiet life of a country squire. Though Fitz is haunted by the disappearance of the Fool, who did so much to shape Fitz into the man he has become, such private hurts are put aside in the business of daily life, at least until the appearance of menacing, pale-skinned strangers casts a sinister shadow over Fitz’s past...and his future.

AAAARRRRGGGHHH!!!! Different narrator!
Revisado: 09-16-14
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
This narrator is absolutely not the right choice for this book! I understand that at times a narrator may choose for whatever reason to stop reading a certain series of books. However, I would think that in that case, the author or the company providing a narrator would at least find a new narrator that sounds like the first one and pronounce the names of the characters the same. I stumbled across the "Fools" series and loved it. I listened to the entire series in record time I think. When I found this one that sounds as though it would wrap up the loose ends I was excited to have it in my library. However, the narrator has given each of the characters an almost feminine quality to their voices. Very Disappointing!
Who was your favorite character and why?
Fitz of course!
How could the performance have been better?
Using the same narrator
If this book were a movie would you go see it?
Yes
Any additional comments?
No
