Slow but pretty

Moves slowly. The opening chapters totally did not hook me and it took me over a year to get past them.... maybe just skip them?? The narrator totally mangled Ovid’s accent ...which is jarring. And she just talks so slowly. ...and Kingsolver herself has a few weird moments trying to describe Ovid. Delarobia herself is not always convincing. Too nice and too naive. But overall I liked the character development and the emotional evocation of climate catastrophe. It’s hard to make the issue sexy or beautiful but BK does it somehow.

A series of great stories working together to be a compelling narrative - love the recordings of people on the phone - genius. Of interest to people interested in war memoir, TBI, trauma, American history, archives research, veterans.
