Historia
In a chance encounter with India's Top Ten Social Influencers, the Dalai Lama is asked to how to use the 'law of attraction' to manifest abundance. He points out that material wellbeing was never the goal of such practices as he begins to explain their true purpose. It is a purpose that His Holiness's Cat goes on to explore with her usual warm-hearted and wonky-legged aplomb. Is the world much more a projection of our mind than we suspect? Can a few precious insights transform our reality?

I could listen to these books nonstop
Revisado: 02-09-24
I love the Dalai Lama's Cat series so much that I always get kind of sad when one of the books end. David Michie is such a wonderful author, to write this kitty's book with such purrfection and teach us so many Buddhist concepts through the eyes of this fantastic fluffy feline. I have loved each book in the series, but this 6th book (and the 4th book) are my top picks. I loved the adventure in this one, as well as the expansion on bodhicitta and sunyata from the previous books. This one, I think, would have been more challenging as a stand alone, so I'd say start with an earlier book in the series just so the references and characters make more sense, but it wouldn't be impossible on its own. Overall, very well done, highly recommend for animal lovers and people interested in Buddhism. I have noticed how my own thoughts and perceptions have changed and have been evolving, and I must give a deal of credit to this book (series) for helping me as I progress towards what I call "leveling up" my mindset.

Featuring a delightful cast of characters and timeless Buddhist wisdom, and with His Holiness' compassion pervading every chapter, The Dalai Lama's Cat is simply enchanting. Not so much fly-on-the-wall as cat-on-the-sill, this is the warmhearted tale of a small kitten rescued from the slums of New Delhi who finds herself in a beautiful sanctuary with sweeping views of the snowcapped Himalayas.

Purrfect Parable
Revisado: 12-02-23
I started the Dalai Lama's Cat series on the 4th book, which I loved so much that I had to read/listen to all of the others. I almost wish I had listened to them in order for the sake of the stories building upon one another, but I don't know that I'd have been drawn in as much if I'd started with the first book - I resonated with the 4th book much more. You can read them as stand-alone books as well without missing much, as this author is good at adding enough background detail from previous stories without being repetitious. This book is the beginning of the kitty's story and her learnings about Buddhism and life with the Dalai Lama, so it begins on an elementary level, and the next books continue building on her story and lessons in Buddhism. In other words, this book is like a 101 lesson told in humorous, cute, and sweet stories from the well -written point of view of not-just-any cat. The audiobook is performed by the author, and he does a great job. I would highly recommend this to cat lovers, animal lovers, anyone curious about Buddhism.

What a wonderful series of parables
Revisado: 11-18-23
I was so curious to learn more about this cat, and in so doing, learned that this kitty is fictional. However, that doesn't matter, the book was written in such a purrfect and effective voice for the teachings and stories. It was the cutest and kindest book I've read on Buddhism as a Westerner. In the beginning of the book, it was discussed on what kind of book would most benefit a visiting Westerner, and I would agree that this kind of book is it. I loved it so much I'm listening to it again. The author is also the narrator, and he does a wonderful job as both in my opinion. Thoroughly enjoyed this book through the eyes of a cat, written by someone who knows cats and Buddhism well. Wonderful, recommending it to all cat lovers and anyone interested in Buddhism.

Law professor James J. In this timely, relevant, and pragmatic new book, he expands on that presentation, offering a vigorous defense of every citizen's constitutionally protected right to avoid self-incrimination.

Less than 3 hours of your time reading/listening to could save you months or years if you're in the "wrong" situation. I don't like to "should on" anyone, but you should read this book, read it with your kids, spread the word. The author reads it and is get articulate, and you can tell he is passionate about the subject. I was never bored while listening to this on a long commute, it only took two drives to finish listening. Highly recommend this for everyone. Helpful information with plenty of case studies.

Wonderful production
Revisado: 11-11-20
As a young American, all I knew of the royal family is what I've seen in headlines in my lifetime. I admit I never held the interest to study foreign politics until recently, but this ignorance I think played in my favor for this book. I was able to listen to it without bias and with curiosity, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. There are topics in this book I'd like to explore further, so it stemmed some rabbit holes in the near future. Very interesting and succinct book about Queen Elizabeth II, delivered with a wonderful performance. I am glad I listened to it, and would listen to it again. If you're on the fence about this book, I'd say try it out, it's not very long and I don't believe it will be a waste of your time.

Condescending and Ranting
Revisado: 11-10-20
This book may be great for someone who doesn't know anything about sales or leadership. I didn't like it, but to each their own, plenty of other people did. If you've read any other books or articles on sales or leadership, you've likely heard this author's points and will not need to spend the time or money on this one.
Is anyone else sick of being yelled at by well-known self-help-ish authors who have "made it"? I seriously want to write them and tell them to quit ranting and get to the point. This book is over 11 hours and narrated by the author. While I appreciate how passionately the author presents his material, he speaks and writes in a condescending tone and is anything but precise. He is quite repetitious and his examples are lengthy and emphatic. There is lots of "fluff" which I didn't find necessary to make the points. I feel like the entire book would have been perfect if it were precise and concise. It probably would have been 2 hours long in that case.
Some great information, but if you Google "summary of Sell or Be Sold" you'll save yourself some time, and be better able to decide if this is truly a book you'd like to purchase before you drop the money or credit on it. I wish I could return this one.

I love that he narrates it himself
Revisado: 07-19-20
I find Dave Ramsey so funny and have been listening to his show for about a year and a half. I listened to this book as a reminder to myself to keep my good financial habits, and to see if I would glean anything new. I have to say, although there were a few subjects that I hadn't considered (namely to do with mortgage) and thus I did learn from this book, the book is the same content you will get on the show or on YouTube. It wasn't ground breaking for me, but I know it WOULD be for anyone new at this who is serious about turning their life around. I paid off $36,500 of debt last year by following SOME of his plan, and still put money towards saving and investing at the same time. I would have paid off closer to $58k of my original $130k debt if I'd gone full "gazelle intensity" - I hope that adds some perspective for you.
That said, there will likely be a few items (or maybe not!) that you don't agree with regarding his philosophy, but the information is very good and will benefit you if you take it, and more importantly, yourself, seriously. Prepare to be yelled at - but if you're like me, him yelling is pretty funny and adds an enjoyable and personal factor to the audiobook. I love that he read it himself. This book is gold and I truly believe it will help you become debt free, financially intelligent, and wealthy. If you're looking for a "get wealthy quick with little effort" type of book, look elsewhere and reassess your life in another year - did it work? I hope you're the special snowflake it does work for, but if it doesn't and you're feeling downtrodden, you might try this book. It's a quick read and could be the game changer.
I would recommend this book to anyone looking to get started on a good game plan to tackle debt and get ahead on finances. I'd also recommend his podcast if you want something less time consuming, or look up one of his videos on YouTube regarding a struggle similar to your own if you want 7 minutes of very precise (or blunt) advice.

Imagine living with a fear so visceral each day that simply walking down the street draws terror to one’s core. That’s the best case scenario for a woman on the streets of Juárez, Mexico. Kate del Castillo (La Reina del Sur) delivers a stunning one-woman performance that transports listeners from a New York stage to the treacherous streets of Juárez, Mexico, where thousands of women have been murdered in an ongoing epidemic of violence.

Sad story, beautiful performance
Revisado: 07-09-20
Great quick book to listen to for an hour. Powerful performance of in-person research being read regarding the articles committed on women in Juarez. Makes you think, makes you remember how good you (probably) have it. Some descriptions are rather graphic and probably not for young audiences (unless you're looking to scare young girls into being more cautious). It was not an unpleasant listen, I enjoyed it, but the subject is very sad, and strangely not very well-known by most on the north side of the border.

Helpful information and great narration
Revisado: 06-27-20
I would not have chosen this book if it hadn't been recommended by a friend, because (no offense, author) the title is cheesy. However, I am glad to have read this. Some of the information was not new to me, as my severe depression went away after I healed from the damage of not knowing I had Celiac's until I was 23, but even in the "bullet points" I was familiar with, there was information I had forgotten or had not heard before, so I didn't skip the section. The book was written with sympathy, but not in a gushing way that assumes you're pathetic or anything overboard like that. There is a lot of information, and the author does a good job of summarizing subjects based on his research and experience. The author not only provides a Sunday and information, but also "how to actually do it." I would like to avoid seeing a psychologist, let alone a psychiatrist, for my current problems and try to fix them on my own, and this book was helpful in that journey. Much appreciated.
