Historia
When Marshall McEwan left his hometown at age 18, he vowed never to return. The trauma that drove him away ultimately spurred him to become one of the most successful journalists in Washington DC. But just as the political chaos in the nation’s capital lifts him to new heights, Marshall is forced to return home in spite of his boyhood vow. His father is dying, his mother is struggling to keep the family newspaper from failing, and the town is in the midst of an economic rebirth that might be built upon crimes that reach into the state capitol - and perhaps even to Washington.

Very consistent with his other stories
Revisado: 01-19-25
At about a halfway point, I was pretty convinced I had read this book before. But I realized it was just due to how similar all his books are as far as the storylines and the characters inside them.

Good start week finish

Kind of a comfort, food sort of book. I thought it might be clever and fun. It was predictable and slow instead.

I've always admired ana appreciated songwriters. Hearing a songwriter who has the ability to artfully perform their creation is the best. Radney takes it to another level here. His writing is wonderful and I hope he continues to write. For me with many songs, I yearn to know more. Thank you, Radney for letting me know the whole story!

Wonderfully done!
Revisado: 05-11-24
it was a great story. Emotionally heart wrenching, but wonderfully told. I was born in St. Cloud, but didn’t grow up there. However, the overwhelming majority of my enormous extended family all lived in and around St. Cloud therefore, during growing up years, I was there most weekends and weeks in the summer, particularly during the period that this piece was written since I was In between the ages of the 2 main characters. well, I wasn’t aware of some of the crimes going on in St. Cloud at the time. The author did an amazing job of capturing the mood. She only missed one thing as one who never missed the Benton County fair. I can promise you that there’s no way in the world the Stearns County Sheriff would introduce an act at the Benton county fair. other than that, it was a great trip down memory lane and I learned a few things about a city that I thought I knew extremely well.

Like something Grisham would have written in elementary school
Revisado: 07-10-23
Seems like the author took all of Grisham’s Ford Co Mississippi and moved them to Alabama. Then quickly wrote something and published the first draft.

Not up to the standards of his other work
Revisado: 02-07-23
I’ve enjoyed many of Nelson DeMille’s books. This one started strong. Then at the 1/2 way point it felt like he realized he was close to the end of the story. If it had finished then it would have been a nice short story. Instead the story went into neutral. Like someone who when arriving early to an appointment, circles the block again and again and again.

A Masterpiece
Revisado: 02-10-22
Stephen King can write anything. He is truly a genius and this book is even more proof. Billy Summers is a story that for the second half of the story you savor every word knowing that it will end and wanting it to continue endlessly.
The narrator is exceptional. He moves from character to character effortlessly. No overacting. He is spot on every time.

Revisado: 01-30-22
A great story that is wonderfully told by the perfect performer for this role.
If I tried to tell about the story it would sound bad. But it is not. The incredible becomes believable. That is actually an understatement. It becomes the world that you live in while enjoying this book.
