Historia
When Professor Alan Tunbridge is discovered in his office with his throat slashed, the suspects start queuing up. The brilliant but unpleasant microbiologist had a genius for making enemies. For Warren Jones, newly appointed Detective Chief Inspector to the Middlesbury force, a high-profile murder is the ideal opportunity. He’s determined to run a thorough and professional investigation but political pressure to resolve the case quickly and tensions in the office and at home make life anything but easy.

Great, but not
Revisado: 01-13-24
Author is a talented story-teller, and this was in many ways a fun read. But way too many gratuitous F-bombs. Enough so, that I could never bring myself to read any of his other books.

Valuable Insight and Advice
Revisado: 10-20-23
Not a self-help, feel good treatise. Instead, a practical insight of how to live to please God in a day when not that many are so inclined. My favorite concept was how to tune in to exactly what God wants to say to you, and also how to be confident that God is actually the one speaking. I always prefer listening to an audio book where the author is also the reader - it adds a degree of authenticity and sincerity to the written words. Here, the author clearly sets forth the benefits of living a daily personal walk with God, and the promised rewards of making that choice.

New York City. Two in the morning. A subway car heading uptown. Jack Reacher, plus five other passengers. Four are okay. The fifth isn’t. And if you think Reacher isn’t going to get involved . . . then you don’t know Jack.

Hard to muddle through
Revisado: 12-08-21
I found this slow and boring. There was also gratuitous extreme violence. Not typical violence....over the top gross behavior, none of which was necessary for this story. Reminded me of going to a restaurant where the head chef didn't know how to cook, so he just way overdid the salt on every dish he made.

Historia
Given the importance of what they do, and the controversies that often surround them, and the violent people they sometimes confront, it is remarkable that in the history of this country only four active federal judges have been murdered. Judge Raymond Fawcett has just become number five.... Nothing is as it seems and everything’s fair game in this wickedly clever new novel from John Grisham, the undisputed master of the legal thriller.

Major Disappointment
Revisado: 01-18-21
Long-winded...boring writing...far-fetched...not remotely believable...total waste of time. My advice- Skip it. This was my third Grisham novel. I loved the first two (The Firm and The Partner). I'll try another; if it's not any better than this, I think I'm done.
