Can You Say MONOTONE!
Revisado: 08-12-16
Great story - ruined by a really, really boring narration. There wasn't one speck of "life" added. None of the authors trademark humor, action, or character camaraderie (which was written in perfectly) was portrayed by the narrator. My listen to this great novella was a boring / sleep inducing coma.
Thankfully I had purchased the book and could read it myself - the way it was intended - with all the Andrews' awesome skill .
I understand the brilliant Renee Raudman can't preform every Ilona Andrews book (too bad!!) but please choose a different narrator for any (much anticipated) future installments.

A Mouthwatering Comfort Listen
Revisado: 01-30-12
What did you love best about Angelina's Bachelors?
Vocally, we experience every emotion Angelina experiences - warmth and love, a wrenching grief, sadness mixed with determination that turns to hope, and then delight as she builds a very different but once again happy life for herself. This takes place over time with the help of family, friends and Food.I loved the descriptions of the recipes, the memories of family they brought to Angelina and/or the reasons why she would create a new recipe. The details about the cooking and the meals plus the reactions of those who ate them let me live vicariously and it's a good thing or I would have gained ten pounds just listening! If you've ever watched the Food Network and been intrigued by all the small things that make a great dish then Angelina's Bachelors is a must listen for the food alone.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Angelina's Bachelors?
I don't know about an exact moment but from the point where Angelina uses her amazing cooking abilities as therapy and then the book moves forward as she also uses those abilities to make ends meet, while filling a spot in several different men's lives I was hooked and couldn't stop listening. It was an added bonus that Angelina's Bachelors moves at a fast pace with something new around every corner as the cast of characters builds and then grows together with each artfully created and mouth watering meal.
Have you listened to any of Xe Sands???s other performances before? How does this one compare?
Yes, and she is in top form with Angelina's Bachelors. She gives each character throughout the book a beautifully defined voice, which is impressive considering the fact that there are multiple main characters, each with a vivid personality that shows through when they speak. I particularly enjoyed hearing the Italian accents prevalent throughout the story.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
I cried, I laughed, I fell in love with the characters and probably felt every emotion in between. It's a feel good story by the end which is why it will be an enjoyable comfort listen for me.
Any additional comments?
An engrossing, wonderfully written, book brought vibrantly alive with Xe Sands' excellent narration. What more could you want from an audiobook? Loved it!

Historia
There was no doubt about it. What Miss Harriet Pomeroy needed was a man. Someone powerful and clever who could help her rout the unscrupulous thieves who were using her beloved caves to hide their loot. But when Harriet summoned Gideon Westbrook Viscount St. Justin to her aid, she could not know that she was summoning the devil himself.

Finally the Narrator Gets It Right
Revisado: 12-28-09
Finally Anne Flosnick catches the right tone with Amanda Quick's Ravished! She was, at last, able to get the hero's proper attitude down! Yes haughty and cold (for good reason) but totally besotted and indulgent with the heroine from the very beginning, just as all of Quick's heroes are!
Quick has long been a favorite author for me so to see her earlier books coming out on audio was exciting. To hate Flosnick's interruption of the heroes personalities until Ravished was very disappointing. I haven't listened to the other two in the "R" series as I'm afraid of wasting more credits as I did with the three "S" series of books.
To say I was totally underwhelmed by Flosnick's narration of the three "S" series of books is an understatement. Flosnick ruined them for me with her harsh/cruel interpretation of the heroes. Quick has never written that type of a hero! They may be firm and try to remain cold in trying to come to grips with the feisty heroines but they are always besotted and indulgent right from the start. If I can't "hear" that classic Quick hero then the books are not worth listening to.
For me Ravished was finally narrated properly and I thoroughly enjoyed the listen.

Historia
Shades of Twilight is the story of Roanna Davenport, who grows up in a wealthy southern family but never quite fits in. She isn't pretty or popular, and she has a real talent for saying the wrong thing at precisely the wrong moment. She's in love with a distant cousin, Webb Tallant. But Webb marries their cousin Jessie, the bane of Roanna's life. When Jessie is found murdered, Webb is blamed for her death, even though there isn't enough evidence to charge him.

Excellent Narration
Revisado: 10-29-09
This is not my favorite Howard book by a long shot but Natalie Ross does an excellent job with the narration. I rate audio books on the narration not the story. Narration makes or breaks an audio book no matter how good (or bad) the story. Natalie Ross has been spot on in everything I've heard her do and it's a relief to be able to rely on her!

Intellectual Sophia Bennett knew what kind of man she wanted: a rugged cowboy. And in Texas they were everywhere! So why couldn't she take her eyes off brilliant professor Max Travers? He was a Wizard in mathematics who surely made love by the numbers. Yet every inch of him - no Stetson, no dusty boots - added up to dangerously sexy.

Overly Dramatic Narration Ruins This One
Revisado: 10-29-09
I sure will be happy when Audible lets you rate both the book and the narration separately. What ruined this book was the nauseating over emphasis put on every single word from the narrators mouth. Plus Ashley Aldon and her producer got the whole tone of the book wrong! I've read the book many times and the heroine was not a smart mouthed *itch and the hero was not a quiet nerd! But that is what we get with this narration. Instead of the two very confident people finding common ground that were written in the book. A classic JAK from 1985 trashed by the narration/production. Two stars, only in nod to JAK.

Are You Kidding Me??
Revisado: 05-31-09
This book, which is great in it's own right and was such a fabulous read, has the WORST narration I've ever heard for the characters. Anyone who has read these books knows that they are intense, hot and action packed! The narration makes the Brothers sound like a bunch of old dull men and you can hardly tell the difference between the male and female voices. There is no steam at all, just a boring reading of the story. I've belonged to audible for several years now and have over 200 books from them and this is the first time I've ever wished I could get a refund for such an awful disappointment in a book!

Best In The Trilogy
Revisado: 05-01-09
I thought this was the best book in this trilogy and that's saying something with Linda Howard doing the lead off story. The narration was great, I always enjoy it when they give a male and female narrator for the parts.

Narrator Ruined This Book For Me
Revisado: 05-01-09
I had read this book years ago when it first came out and thought it excellent. I was excited to see it offered on audio. But in this audio version the narrator turned the somewhat shy quiet heroine with a personality from the book into a big pitiful wimp in the audio version!! Very disappointed! So disappointed I could not even finish listening to the book.
