Historia
Taken from my old life with little memory of what brought me here, I wake up in a high tech capsule. A wrinkly old elf tells me that my soul is incomplete and has been fused with that of a Solar Dragon to give me a second chance at life. Where? When? An urban metropolis filled with fantasy races, erected atop the back of a giant asteroid. Meteoropolis. And millions of years in the future, to boot. But that's not all. I've got super powers, too. To add to the excitement, I end up hosted by an anxious unicorn elf named Pinky Peach who is basically a professional gamer girl.

Alyssa is absolutely STELLAR.

I listen to a lot of audiobooks. I also narrate a few. As such I have a lot of appreciation for the effort that goes into them. I’ve always enjoyed Virgil’s work and I really got hooked on this fun, light-hearted story.
But I’m not kidding. Alyssa Poon’s performance in this is spectacular. Each of the main cast’s voice is distinct and identifiable—a challenge with this many—and her emotive ability is amazing. To me this solidified her as one of the best in the genre. Seriously, really wonderful work.

Loved the Book, Love the Audio
Revisado: 10-09-24
I read this on KU, and absolutely had to try it as an Audiobook. Personally I really like the duet narration, and the characters are a lot of fun. I’d love to see more of Matt, but the sleuthing our heroes partake in is a blast!

Epic Fights!
Revisado: 05-02-24
Ty in the tournament is pretty wicked. The narrator does a splendid job and I really enjoyed hearing the scenario come to life. I’ve enjoyed the Resonance series since the beginning and hearing it be brought to life has been magnificent. I really love the unique take on dragons and the way our MC interacts with them!

Historia
For thousands of years, there has been a cycle: a Demon King rises and conquers, and a Hero is reborn a hundred years later to defeat him. Each time, civilizations are ground to dust beneath the Demon King's hordes, but humanity has remained secure in the belief that a Hero of legend will always save them. There's just one slight problem. It's only been 23 years since the Demon King's latest rise, and this time, he's already conquered more than half the world. If humanity simply waits for the Hero's return, there may be no world left for him to save.

Trope Subversion at its finest
Revisado: 05-13-20
I loved the blatant allusion to the Zelda series throughout this story, I still remember the ‘aha’ moment when I realized how much it directly pulled from that. Several other JRPG and anime/cartoon series tropes are abound in this, but in such a way that it’s clearly lovingly ribbing, and I say this as a thorough fan of such genres of entertainment myself.
I thoroughly enjoyed this story from top to bottom, and Suzy Jackson’s performance was spot on for the narrative the author was trying to tell, and to anyone who loves video games (especially JRPGs), litRPGs, anime, and cartoon fantasy at its finest, I highly recommend giving this a listen.
