Historia
After my father’s death, my stepmother assumed control of my life. She believes I’ll cave to her demands, even when that means arranging a marriage to a man who makes my skin crawl. With no other choice, I ran toward comfort. The Blacksmith, a kind soul the fae have turned their backs on. He’s allowed nothing: no name, no rights, no wife. To be with the man I want, I’ll have to make a deal with a God. An immortal being who promises to help at the cost of one night together. An idea that makes me burn with desire.

When you get everything you want
Revisado: 01-06-24
This story was an amazing, dark and spicy, Cinderella retelling. It had magic, the fae, and more. When Summer is asked what she wants, she says “everything”.
Each of her love interests gave her what she needed at the time she needed it. And they’re all so different so it makes for great character development.
RUTHIE. RUTHIE did an amazing job narrating Chalan’s novel. The diversity in her vocal skills, the breadth of character she brought, and the ability to articulate each one as their unique self is mind blowing. I didn’t need a character to be introduced because she embodied them so well that I knew who it was before their name was mentioned. And her ability to narrate masculine characters is TOP TIER.
Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed this book and it was a great listen. LOVED IT.

Historia
After walking away from her toxic boyfriend, Wren finds herself lonely and wondering if good men only exist in fiction. But at a Valentine's Day masquerade ball, she spots them—the three men who meet every week at the coffee shop she works at. The ones who've always looked at her like she's the most interesting thing on the whole planet. She figures they won't recognize her, but there's no way they couldn't—not when they all feel pulled to her in a way they never have before.

I found this story super adorable and spicy. I was cheesing for a lot of it and then fanning myself for a lot of it lol. Toward the end there’s a part that just filled me with joy and I laughed so hard. This was well narrated! Ruthie and Corvin make a great team!!

Historia
Scarletta: bastard, daughter of a traitor. To the Italian Don of New York, I’m nothing more than a tool to be wielded. My obedience was the price I had to pay for the sins of my father. But Dominick Romano should have worked on gaining my loyalty because the chains he shackled me with have been undone. The Four Families have always run New York: Italian Mafia, Irish Mob, Russian Bratva, and the Jirocho Yakuza Clan. An alliance cloaked in proclamations of peace while they hold knives to one another’s backs. But a new player has emerged: The Syndicate.

I listened all day if I could. Hot, steamy, bloodthirsty, HILARIOUS!! So good, I loved this book. The narrators added to the whole thing, adding personality to the characters. I love a stabby FMC.

Historia
It's been 18 years since I lost my fiancé, and I'm struggling to move on. I grieved him when he died, then grieved him again when his sister wrote a book about his inspiring life a few years later. Now that book is becoming a movie, and I'm about to grieve him for a third time. To make matters worse, the actor cast to portray the love of my life on the big screen just walked into my bar, begging me to help him with the role.

SO DAMN GOOD
Revisado: 08-06-23
This book was sitting on my TBR for a while. After suffering some intense triggers from my own religious trauma, I bumped this up to read as a form of “therapy”. I got sucked into the story and had a hard time putting it down! Jescie Hall writes pure poetry throughout this novel.
Immersion reading really made a difference. The narrators, Joe Arden and Desireé Ketchum, brought this amazing story to life.
It is very dark and be sure to review CWs before diving in.
It was everything I needed and more.
