Refreshing, cute, and calm

Loved the story and the romantic tension without the whining and the angst and the triangles and the over the top issue that has to be overcome. Narrator’s voice was perfect for the story, very well done.

A roller coaster!

A bit slow in the beginning but as the story continues lots of threads pulled together and the action ensued. I’m a bit emotional right now. Eagerly anticipating the next installment. The narrator as always was fantastic.

Well written, great world building and no whiny heroine. Fantastic fantasy world set in colonial America. It is interesting, funny and well written. I look forward to delving further into this world.

I had to check twice...

There were so many "men" declaring love for her and that she had "special moments" with, that I had to check again to make sure this wasn't a reverse harem book (I have really only ever read one series with a reverse harem and it was by accident since it was introduced like 7 books in after the first arc was done). Anyway, I get that she is going through things, questioning her life and the things she was taught due to her new circumstances, but really the one teaching/rule you want to hold on to and embrace is the one eschewing any type of monogamy. And she was like I know all of you basically live together but y'all just get along boys!".

Basically, the story is interesting enough to listen to book 2, but beautiful prose or riveting action this is not. Maybe if she could focus and not have moments with 2 of her "suitors" before she did what she needed to do, it would flow better.

I kept listening and I had to do some more research. Whereas the Audible description says "an alternative relationship dynamic", Amazon has this book as a reverse harem. I wouldn't have bothered if I knew. I tend to not read reviews before I read the book, so yep missed it. So probably not doing book 2, I don't really like reverse harem, especially when it's not written well (since now I remember another series that had that element and the flow was much better).

Wonderful new installment

Continuation of a phenomenal story with a FANTASTIC and TALENTED narrator. Can not wait until the next book!

I don’t like the narrator

I love the new series and hope Ricky Bobby makes an appearance. I do not, however, like Chris Abernathy for any Kurtherian Gambit book/ series. IMO he ruined The Dark Messiah series and he is not doing any better with these. Apparently he just can’t swing a female voice. This makes it very difficult to know who is speaking. Additionally his male voices aren’t even good. Hate to say it but Emily Beresford and Kate Rudd have better male voices. I will probably continue to listen just because I want to “read” all of the books, but please no more Abernathy for Kurtherian Gambit.
