Historia
He called himself Thomas Covenant the Unbeliever because he dared not believe in this strange alternate world on which he suddenly found himself. Yet, the land tempted him. He had been sick but now, he seemed better than ever before. Through no fault of his own, he had been outcast, unclean, a pariah. Now, he was regarded as a reincarnation of the land's greatest hero - Berek Halfhand - armed with the mystic power of white gold.

I usually love s Brick's narrating, but this one seemed to grate a little. It was way to sing-songy in a lot of the characters. At times it sounded like a 1940s serial melodrama. But ithat's ok, Scott's made up for it by all the previous awesome narrating. This is a good story, homaging and borrowing a lot of Tolkien's settings and characters but with an entirely new and refreshing twist. The hero is a despairing and sickly failure. The story is about the battles to overcome fear and replace it with trust and faith in yourself and others. It doesn't present us with the ideal, but instead with the flawed. It's an example of how we collect the strength to muddle through and struggle to overcome despite the odds and outcomes (much like a lot of fantasy stories)
It's been a while since I read the books and the dialog seems corny sometimes to me in this reading. But I think the narrating enhanced that impression lol.
It's still a good book, entertaining and I like Donaldson s acrid descriptive style.

didn't get through it. or get it.

I guess I was more in the mood for a cool and well written story. rather than a "fresh" new rambling, intellectually witty, literary piece. Nick is clearly a good and intelligent writer. just wish the story had been accentuated more than Nick's dry and intelligent humor. The narrator appropriately accentuates the intellectually witty sarcasm which I guess made it even more grating for my "just want some axe-shun" mood. maybe I'll try reading on kindle if I get the time. It seemed like a good story but got bogged down with filler.

boring
Revisado: 07-19-16
It was mostly about the author's career as a security guard. There were a few interesting stories, but nothing new about the Clintons. Shes a greedy polutical power grubber. He's a greedy political power grubber and a charming horn dog. NO DUH! The performer's attempts to recreate the author's attempts to add excitement to his mundane job duties was laudible, even if laughable at times.

very informative and well-written
Revisado: 04-19-16
Leovy takrs a subject which could be extremely dry and depressing and paints it with a literary brush Her work has created a story that is not only informative but also emotional and poignant. This should be a highly recommended read.

Good stories
Revisado: 10-22-15
Narrator. Takes some getting used to. Thick accent and weird delivery. But somewhat charmin once you're used to it. Stories are old fashioned literary morsels. A good read.
