Historia
Multiple races carefully navigate the City of Elantra under the Dragon Emperor’s wing. His Imperial Wolves are executioners, the smallest group to serve in the Halls of Law. The populace calls them assassins. Every wolf candidate must consent to a full examination by the Tha’alani, one of the most feared and distrusted races in Elantra for their ability to read minds. Most candidates don’t finish their job interviews.

Excellent and long waited for
Revisado: 10-16-20
This is a spin off from the Chronicles of Elantra series, but you don’t need to read that series to follow and enjoy this book. This book is part of the back story for Severn, one of my favorite characters from the Cast books. It tells us how he came to be a Wolf; how he met the Tha’alani Cast Lord Ybelline, the Keeper Evanton, and the Eternal Emperor; and his introduction to the High Halls.
The characters were engaging and the plot was interesting. The pace was well done. It was definitely worth the credit and I’ll probably listen to the book again every time a new book comes out in the series. I can’t wait for the next book which is supposed to be Severn’s journey to the West March.
Kristine Hvam, who also narrates the Cast novels, did a great job and the voices of the characters were consistent with their voices in the Cast novels which I really appreciate. The only criticism I have is that the pronunciation for Ellieann was different in this book than in the Cast novels. Probably not a big deal to most, but did make me cringe the first time I heard it. I liked the diversity of her voices for the characters which makes it easy to keep track of who is talking. The tone she gives the book is exactly what I imagine the author intended.

Pure Excellence.
Revisado: 06-25-14
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Absolutely. The world building is magnificent. The characters and their interactions are so engaging you can't help but stay up later than you should just to find out what happens next.
What was one of the most memorable moments of The Siren Depths?
When Stone demands to be let into Opal Night.
What about Christopher Kipiniak’s performance did you like?
Everything. He did such a good job of giving everyone a distinct voice that I had no problem distinguishing the different characters.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
When the royal clutch tries to negotiate with Moon in an attempt to get him to stay at Indigo Cloud.
Any additional comments?
Try to listen to this when you have no obligations the next day because you might find yourself pulling an all-nighter, like I did, because it's just to good to put down.

Historia
Moon has spent his life hiding what he is - a shape-shifter able to transform himself into a winged creature of flight. An orphan with only vague memories of his own kind, Moon tries to fit in among the tribes of his river valley, with mixed success. Just as Moon is once again cast out by his adopted tribe, he discovers a shape-shifter like himself... someone who seems to know exactly what he is, who promises that Moon will be welcomed into his community.

Unexpectedly awesome!
Revisado: 06-25-14
What made the experience of listening to The Cloud Roads the most enjoyable?
I fell in love with all of the characters and couldn't wait to find out what happened to them.
Who was your favorite character and why?
I can't pick just one, but I really liked Moon, Chime, Stone, and Jade the best. Each of them had such great personalities, but the interactions between them is probably what makes them my favorite characters.
Which scene was your favorite?
The entire confrontation between Moon and Shell and Grain when the listener is introduced to Chime and Flower.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes, and I very nearly did!
Any additional comments?
This is one listen you will not regret spending credits on and if you have enough credits saved up you might as well get the rest of the trilogy because you won't want to wait to start the next book!

Historia
Seven years ago Kaylin fled the crime-riddled streets of Nightshade, knowing that something was after her. Children were being murdered— and all had the same odd markings that mysteriously appeared on her own skin….Since then, she's learned to read, she's learned to fight and she's become one of the vaunted Hawks who patrol and police the City of Elantra. Alongside the winged Aerians and the immortal Barrani, she's made a place for herself, far from the mean streets of her birth.

If you could sum up Cast in Shadow in three words, what would they be?
Excellent. Riveting. Fantastic.
What did you like best about this story?
It's a tie between the characterizations and the world building.
What does Khristine Hvam bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Every character has a distinctive voice which a) brings the characters to life and b) helps the listener distinguish who is speaking.
