Interesting take

This is almost a sci-fi litrpg, it hints at being more mechanically based than magic. I enjoyed it but if your delicate sensibilities are offended by such horrible things as pronouns and LGBTQI perhaps it will make you clutch your pearls. I’ll be looking forward to book two.

Fun and light

Nothing ground breaking but a fun listen. The narrator does a good job and the story is fairly standard over powered MC starting out. I’ll be waiting for the second book because I like stuff like this.

An interesting start

When the mc’s life gets turned upside down I almost quit, personally I don’t like the slave plot line. If that’s you as well DO NOT DO IT. They way this is written isn’t some tragic backstory creating an op Mc scarred by his suffering. This MC has one thing going for him. Brains, he is smart and the book manages to do that without making the other characters morons. I really enjoyed this book and the narration is solid.

A bit over explained but good.

I’m starting book two so obviously I like the story. The MC over thinks things or rather over explains options he won’t use and the reason. Some people probably love that but it made me skip forward occasionally. Other then that it’s a good story.

Some minor issues on a good tale

The world is creative and the characters are good. I like the combination of old west gun slingers and a pseudo cultivation style world. It would be a stretch to call it LitRPG, there’s only the barest of reference to levels of any kind. Still it’s a damn good story.
My one critique is the MC’s monologues can be a bit repetitive. From one to another he repeats the same conflicts or goals, it’s a minor thing but something that always strikes me when it happens.
The narration is on point as usual for Sound Booth. I struggle with music on some but on this one it’s all very subtle and really fits with the narration.
