In this powerful memoir, two-time GRAMMY Award winner Zach Williams shares his personal Rescue Story as he reflects on his childhood and the prophecy that kept his parents from giving up hope, his descent into substance abuse which held him captive for so long, and ultimately the rescue he didn't think was possible but embraced with open arms.

Storyline. Characters
Revisado: 10-19-24
Seeing through the eyes of a child, Scout, growing up in the south & seeing the effects it had on the community. Also, the effect a wise, moral father can have on his children. As a white woman who grew up in the south, I read this in grade school & it was very transformational in my thinking. I’ve probably read or listened to it 20 times since. It’s my favorite read despite the injustices, it gives me hope.

Historia
At one time, Corrie ten Boom would have laughed at the idea that she had a story to tell. For the first 50 years of her life, nothing out of the ordinary ever happened to her. She was a spinster watchmaker living contentedly with her sister and their elderly father in the tiny house over their shop in Haarlem. Their uneventful days, as regulated as their own watches, revolved around their abiding love for one another. But with the Nazi invasion and occupation of Holland, everything changed....

Authentic, moving & thought provoking
Revisado: 10-19-24
Loved the detailed story line, the honesty in her work & how hope was held onto despite unbelievable horror. The honest, brutal struggle for finding forgiveness for the unforgivable acts of violence & attempted annihilation of her sister & faith community.

Historia
People say Beartown is finished. A tiny community nestled deep in the forest, it is slowly losing ground to the ever encroaching trees. But down by the lake stands an old ice rink, built generations ago by the working men who founded this town. And in that ice rink is the reason people in Beartown believe tomorrow will be better than today. Their junior ice hockey team is about to compete in the national semifinals, and they actually have a shot at winning.

Elsa is seven years old and different. Her grandmother is 77 years old and crazy, standing-on-the-balcony-firing-paintball-guns-at-men-who-want-to-talk-about-Jesus crazy. She is also Elsa's best and only friend. At night Elsa takes refuge in her grandmother's stories, in the Land of Almost-Awake and the Kingdom of Miamas, where everybody is different and nobody needs to be normal.

Unexpected pleasure
Revisado: 11-23-19
Story of a family with many relationships, mainly between a 9 yr old precocious girl, her grandmother, who loved her unconditionally but not always to her benefit. The girl’s mother’s relationship with her mother, fraught with the past & present. And the many tenants living with this family and their stories of they’re relationship with the grandmother. Irreverent at times but with an intriguing, , beautiful storyline.
