Historia
These delightful stories of the famous hawk-eyed detective are told by his friend and foil, Dr. Watson. Doyle draws us into 19th-century London - - hansom cabs, train rides, and foggy nights - - where he astutely solves the most complex and perplexing cases of the day. Among the short stories included in this collection is "The Gloria Scott", an account of Holmes's very first case.

How can you go wrong with Holmes and Watson? This is a faithful deposition of the best of Conan Doyle’s best and I never grow tired of hearing from the corpus of his work. Who has not dreamt of being able to think like Sherlock? He has inspired me to see my world and to learn how to think as fun. A good book for nostalgia and dreams of better times.

Love the character development and humor without excessive sex. If Mark will will write more books,i’ll take care of the latter. Mark doesn’t assume that the reader is stupid. I like learning a bit of new info while I read for fun. I recommend the entire series. Thanks, Mark.

Historia
Is bourbon the quintessential American liquor? Bourbon is not just alcohol - the amber-colored drink is deeply ingrained in American culture and tangled in American history. From the early days of raw corn liquor to the myriad distilleries that have proliferated around the country today, bourbon is a symbol of the United States. This course traces bourbon's entire history, from the 1700s, with Irish, Scottish, and French settlers setting up stills and making distilled spirits in the New World, through today's booming resurgence.

As I began, I felt like a classroom student with very little experience with liquors and bourbon in particular. I listened because a dear friend is a proud consumer of bourbon and I wanted to be informed so I could “hold my own “ in conversation. Listening was like preparing for a debate. I feel that was accomplished to my satisfaction. It was helpful that the author gave citations for further education. A pleasant book for a leisurely listening.

Historia
A gripping collection of 15 BBC Radio full-cast dramas written by Bert Coules, inspired by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's original stories. In the 56 short stories and four novels Arthur Conan Doyle wrote about his great detective, how many times did Dr John Watson tantalise us with references to cases which were never written about in full? These original adventures flesh out those unrecorded cases to wonderful effect. Clive Merrison plays the great sleuth himself, with Andrew Sachs in the role of Doctor Watson.

Same old archaic story that is not a tribute to Sir Arthur. Perhaps I am unfairly comparing these actors to the Nigel Hawthorn videos? A disappointment purchase. Not worthy of the canon that exists in my mind.
