The 30 Greatest?
Revisado: 02-25-25
While I agree that the 30 Orchestral works discussed in this lecture series are great, calling them the 30 "greatest" is not correct. First of all, I have to disagree about no orchestral works after 1953 not being included. There are several composers active past that year that don't even get recognition, i.e. John Williams, Henry Mancini, etc. Also there are other earlier composers that aren't even mentioned like Handel, who composed a fair amount of orchestral works, the Strauss family for their waltzes, polkas and marches and John Philip Sousa for his marches and other works. I feel that Professor Greenberg should record an updated series of lectures and change the title to "30 Great Orchestral Works".

Murmurs and Mutters
Revisado: 01-20-25
First off, I would give each book in the series the same headline due to the authors excessive use of those two words throughout the six books of the series. I think E L James is selling her stories short by limiting her vocabulary when it comes to either Christian or Anastasia speaking in a low voice to each other. Throughout the remainder of the stories, there is plenty of evidence to show that the author does have an extensive vocabulary. I have even pulled up a dictionary a few times to find the definitions for some of the words she uses. But for some reason Ms. James was not able to find other verbiage to use other than murmurs and mutters when it comes to quiet conversations between Christian and Anna. I still enjoy the stories, but find myself internally using other words during the "M and M" moments. That is why I have to rate the story at only three stars.

It Grew On Me
Revisado: 06-28-24
I have to admit that the first time I listened to this story, I had a hard time getting into it. I just completed it it for the second time and found that I had a hard time pausing the story. The story definitely grew on me the second time around. I am looking forward to listening to the next two seasons, and more if Travis Beacham chooses to continue with these stories.

Wonderful Story
Revisado: 01-30-24
I really enjoyed learning more about Tom Brokaw's early life and how much of an influence his father had on the man he now is. He emphasizes again and again that despite all the adversity that "Red" Brokaw experienced in life he always seemed to find a way to make lemonade from the lemons in his life. Mark Bramhall reads this wonderfully, but wish Mr. Brokaw's health had allowed him to perform the narration.

Too Much Sex, Too Little Story
Revisado: 01-30-24
I am not sure why the author had such an abrupt change from the previous books in this series. Up to this point there some sex scenes as part of each of the previous books in this series, which I feel were appropriately done. But when it came to this story, it seems like the author relied more on graphic sex scenes than in the other stories combined. That is why I like this book the least of the series so far. It seems like she put more of those scenes in the story so that she could have the length of she wanted. I would have preferred the story to have had less sex and more actual story line. If there is another book in the series, I hope she has a more balance story line instead of a book that I would place a rating of NC-17 on.

I was so pleased when I discovered the recording of this classic Christmas story that I knew I needed to have it in my collection, even though I have other recordings of the story. In his own talented way he really brings to life all the beloved characters in the story. I can now listen to this and his reading of Jacob T. Marley and have a truly enjoyable listening experience.

Not the best effort
Revisado: 03-15-22
I am a little bit past halfway in going through this book and while I have learned some new things so far there are two things that have prevented me from giving it a higher rating. The first being the mispronunciation of Osiris and Thoth in the Egyptian mythology section. The second being that the PDF has the Egyptian and Norse sections switched. Another slight detractor are the narrators. They weren't the best choice.

Historia
Born to the ranks of the lower English gentry in 1775, Jane Austen led what some have mistakenly described as an ordinary and unremarkable life - a life that ended all too soon at the age of 41. But from this life, Austen drew inspiration for six novels that all rank as literary masterpieces, including the widely beloved Pride and Prejudice. So, what do we really know about Austen’s life and influences?

Very informative
Revisado: 02-05-22
I thought that this course was very well put together and quite informative about the stories Jane Austen wrote. I feel that I understand them better now and will listen to again because I may have missed something. I also appreciated hearing more about what her life was like and the societal and other issues she faced during her lifetime. Would definitely recommend to anyone wishing to know more about Miss Austen, her life and her literary contributions.
