EXCELLENT LISTEN! Ignore bad ending reviews
Revisado: 07-15-22
This book was amazing. I've read the comments that say the ending makes no sense, and I have to admit for about 5 minutes I myself was slightly confused. I don't want to give anything away to ruin all the twists and turns of the story, but sometimes who you think someone is, really isn't as the story goes. If you take a few minutes to put the pieces together at the end, you will realize there are 2 parallel stories going on, not one, which I'm assuming is what everyone is getting so confused about. I was a little hesitant about this listen as I have never read anything from this author or listened to any stories from this narrator, but I was 100% impressed. To me, the narrator is just as important and have stopped listening to a book which may have been good because of the bad narration.
At the beginning there were a few moments, maybe a half chapter when I was like okay this seems to be dragging, but then it picks right back up and all the info was needed.
I will be listening to more books from this author and listening to more books from this narrator!!

Not her best, but definiently worth listening too
Revisado: 06-27-22
I have previously listened to at least a half dozen of her other stories but kept passing this one up due to the negative reviews. Finally with not many more books from Shalini to listen to, I decided to just get it. I love Katie Villa as a narrator and listen to almost all books she narrates. This book is very good, it just doesn't end how most of her others do. It left me feeling slightly disappointed, probably the last half hour. But overall the story was very good and had me gripped and at the edge of my seat wanting to listen to the whole thing in one sitting. If you like her other books, I would recommend listening to this one as well, just now it's not her best, at least to me. Not because of the entire book, but just the ending.

Great Choice!
Revisado: 02-09-22
It was great to listen to the entire chronicles all in one spot. I've read a few of the books in the past, not in any particular order, but listening to the books in chronological order made each of the individual stories that much better. I was unaware there were so many books in the complete set but after listening to them all, I love this series so much more. The narrators did a fabulous job. I highly recommend this.

MUST READ!!! Highly Recommend
Revisado: 02-01-22
I almost didn't purchase this book to listen too. I had never heard of Israel Keyes before, especially this being such a new case. And was going to pick a book to listen to about someone more well known (Ted Bundy). But the reviews looked good so I thought I would try it. BEST DECISION EVER! Some other reviews say it was a "hard listen",... so glad I didn't listen to them! I don't know how you couldn't like this book, story or narrator. They are all amazing.
I literally couldn't stop listening to this book. I will definitely re listen to this book again soon.
I was so fascinated by the history, I looked up what more I could find on Israel, and found a 1.5 hour special they did on him in 2018 which I have now watched because of listening to this book. The narrator does a fantastic job as well. I listen to audible books at work about 8 hours a day, 5-6 days per week while doing bookkeeping, and this by far is one of the better listens, both for the story and the narrator.

In 1999, Emmon Bodfish was murdered in his home in the wealthy enclave of Orinda, California, just east of San Francisco. For the young crime-scene analyst Paul Holes, it quickly became the most bizarre and surprising case of his storied career. It was immediately clear how Emmon had died: by being hit over the head with a heavy object. What wasn’t clear was who did it and why.

I wasn't sure if I was going to like this when I first read the description and there were some mixed reviews. The beginning of it I had to re listen to a few times, so it was a rough start. But by the end of episode one I was hooked and would find reasons to listen. I highly recommend it. I hope that they end up reopening this cold case and can shed more light and solve this case.
