Average. My mind wandered while listening. Definitely not a reread as most of Connelly’s books are.

Nice encapsulation of stoicism. Bad narration.
Revisado: 09-12-24
Stoicism For Dummies is yet another good introduction and overview of the popular philosophy.
The biggest problem is the narration. It’s subpar. There are so many excellent narrators working today, it’s puzzling to me why so many of the books I enjoy have bad narration. Who chooses these narrators and why?
The audio quality of this production is also substandard. It’s tiresome to listen to despite my keen interest in the subject.

Treat your ears to a performance so rich and captivating you'll imagine yourself in the halls of Hogwarts. Wherever you listen, the unmistakable voice of Stephen Fry is guaranteed to guide you ever more deeply into this magical story and transport you to the heart of the adventure.

Solid
Revisado: 04-21-24
I’ve always been curious how Stephen Fry’s narration stacks up against Jim Dale’s. I’ve listened to the first two and now I know.
Fry’s narration is excellent. But his character voices vary minimally. It’s a different listening experience.
Jim Dale’s narration is superb. His voices are distinctive and many are excellent. People often complain about Hermione’s voice, and I admit it’s not perfect.
I can now rank Dale’s narration over Fry’s. But it’s fun listening to Fry as it’s almost like listening to a new book series.

Great book. Terrible narration. Why do publishers choose such terrible narrators? Had a hard time following the story because of the narrator. And…I’ve read the book before!

Herman Wouk's sweeping epic of World War II, which begins with The Winds of War and continues here in War and Remembrance, stands as the crowning achievement of one of America's most celebrated storytellers. Like no other books about the war, Wouk's spellbinding narrative captures the tide of global events - and all the drama, romance, heroism, and tragedy of World War II - as it immerses us in the lives of a single American family drawn into the very center of the war's maelstrom.

One of the great books in American history. It’s America’s War Peace. This book, and The Winds of War, should be read in school instead of some of the “classics” offered today.

Fantasy’s Best Anti-Hero
Revisado: 10-02-22
Thomas Covenant is a terrific character and these are great books. The narrator with his sing songy voice is off putting, especially when he’s reading narrative. It’s over the top emotional and makes it hard to get immersed in the story.

There’s chaos in Hollywood at the end of the New Year’s Eve countdown. Working her graveyard shift, LAPD detective Renée Ballard waits out the traditional rain of lead as hundreds of revelers shoot their guns into the air. Only minutes after midnight, Ballard is called to a scene where a hardworking auto shop owner has been fatally hit by a bullet in the middle of a crowded street party.

Terrific Story Subpar Narration
Revisado: 06-14-22
This is a superb book. Unfortunately the reader is monotonous and soporific. On a positive note, this book makes for great bedtime listening. 💤 Who picks these readers?
I still recommend the audiobook because the story is so fabulous.
