What did you like best about Revenge Wears Prada? What did you like least?

The reader did a great job. Overall, the story felt even shallower than the clackers at Runway.

Has Revenge Wears Prada turned you off from other books in this genre?

Not really. It is a sequel designed to make money based on the success of the first, much more enjoyable, novel.

What about Megan Hilty’s performance did you like?

She did a good job capturing the personality of the various characters through her performance.

Do you think Revenge Wears Prada needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

Um, no. If there was another sequel and it was any more shallow or predictable, it would probably encourage me to not even recommend The Devil Wears Prada. The story was very predictable with the exception of the character Max who was given short shrift in terms of character development (and in a book about fashion, that's saying something). I felt like I was channeling the movie Clueless and just felt whelmed. While I disliked how Andy's character seemed to deviate from who she was in the first book, I stuck with it and finished it. I guess if you have a credit to burn and time to listen, it's not horrible...but it's just not that great. That's all.

Many people liked this book, so when my wife and I began listening to it on a long road trip, we were excited by the premise-A man, injured in a mugging, now has the ability to "see" a murder before it happens. Unable to stop the murder, he begins to investigate, along with his half-brother, trying to bring the killer to justice. Great idea, but I was not hooked at all. To me, the characters were very flat and unrealistic...I actually began to hope the psychic would get punched in the face as he came off as very selfish and immature. To be honest, I didn't finish the book. At the halfway point, I still couldn't convince myself to care about the main character or his brother. I do like the concept, just not the execution.

Quirky, but enjoyable

This audio book attempts to teach you basic Japanese by following a kooky story in which you are recruited as a spy to find out why a group of wannabe fans who love a show similar to Power Rangers has taken over a Japanese theme park. Interspersed with the story are lessons that teach you basic Japanese. It is a fun book to listen to, but it does go very fast through the Japanese. You may have to repeat parts often in order to learn the Japanese. Otherwise, this is a novel idea that is very enjoyable. If you like it, the author also has an audiobook about learning basic Mandarin Chinese as well.
