Man well... actually like the tone of his voice and very natural way of reading although challenged by the material and stumbling thru it aspect. One factor making it extremely annoying to listen to is that the narrator actually spells out words like cathexis, ontogenic and phylogenic... baffling how someone would take on this project without learning how to pronounce these words?
Probably would not recommend this recording even for $2

Edward F. Edinger draws upon his long experience as a practicing psychotherapist and on his extensive knowledge of religion and myth to peel away the accidental and the insignificant to clarify the objective aspects of the psychotherapeutic process.

Great content, unappealing narration
Revisado: 01-23-20
I just don’t get it- there are hundreds of thousands of narrators. Why is it so difficult to choose one with a neutral accent and intonation?
This narrator is better suited for movie trailer narration but also needs to work on his Weezie Jefferson accent for words like ‘thawt’ instead of thought.
It just makes assimilating this excellent content that much more difficult, better to read.

Historia
Greece in the age of heroes. Patroclus, an awkward young prince, has been exiled to the kingdom of Phthia to be raised in the shadow of King Peleus and his golden son, Achilles. “The best of all the Greeks”—strong, beautiful, and the child of a goddess—Achilles is everything the shamed Patroclus is not. Yet despite their differences, the boys become steadfast companions. Their bond deepens as they grow into young men and become skilled in the arts of war and medicine—much to the displeasure and the fury of Achilles’ mother, Thetis, a cruel sea goddess with a hatred of mortals.

Historia
In the house of Helios, god of the sun and mightiest of the Titans, a daughter is born. But Circe is a strange child—not powerful, like her father, nor viciously alluring like her mother. Turning to the world of mortals for companionship, she discovers that she does possess power—the power of witchcraft, which can transform rivals into monsters and menace the gods themselves.

Seems a story out of the library of Alexandria rather than Amazon. If only we had such full narratives for every thread of Greek mythology.
A wonderful, imaginative storyline with beautiful language and metaphor. Very well spoken, highly recommend.

Historia
James Hillman was a past master of alchemical psychology. This field uses metaphors derived from ancient alchemy to elucidate deep structures in the creative imagination. Creative processes are not random. By studying alchemical psychology we come to understand ourselves and other humans in surprising ways that frequently diverge sharply from the habitual understandings we have unconsciously absorbed from the cultures in which we were raised.

Better than I thought it would be!
Revisado: 01-18-18
Would you listen to The Alchemy of Psychology again? Why?
Yes, it's a great resource.
What did you like best about this story?
Easy going, relevant, covered a great deal of material.
What does James Hillman bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Easy to appreciate the content of Hillman's writing, but something about the writing style just doesn't resonate so well. It's the cadence of his sentence structure, something about it is off putting... can't put a fine point on it exactly. The audio book on the other hand, which is a recording of a presentation he delivered is great - his style of speaking is accessible, easy going, approachable, relaxed.

Great Content, Amateurishly Narrated
Revisado: 03-18-17
Would you consider the audio edition of Jung's Map of the Soul to be better than the print version?
N/A
Any additional comments?
The reading of this volume is pretty hard to accept. It's read rapidly and without intonation. Perhaps the choice of Larry Earnhart was to make the text somehow more accessible, but it's instead rather off-putting and sounds extremely amateurish. The content is excellent so I forced myself to accept Larry as narrator, but it wasn't easy.
