Historia
Florida homicide detective Maggie Novak has seen hundreds of brutal murder cases, but when she is called out to investigate the charred remains of a young woman, in what appears to be a Halloween prank gone wrong, she is confronted with a twenty-year-old secret. The body is formally identified as that of school counselor Dana Cullen, but a distinguishing mark makes Maggie look again. She believes it is the body of her school friend Rita, who perished in a fire twenty years ago. Maggie’s hunt for the truth behind the murder takes her back to a cruel high school trick.

inaccuracies very annoying and pulled me out
Revisado: 10-02-23
I dont pay attention to authors and had this in my library for quite some time so I probably wouldn't have remembered anyway...but I could very much tell a man wrote this book. and not a very educated man. so many inaccuracies and thought processes that would not make sense for a woman - like if you're going to have a female main character.....you need to be very good at getting in their head. this ain't it. also, inaccuracies on the science of flight/fight/freeze responses and forensic methods, etc. calling someone sleeping around immoral, saying they had a broken moral compass etc. just wow - that was focused on more than the boy who wanted to unalive people. I mean god....do you really need 5 entire sentences saying how immoral sleeping around is?
I'm a forensic scientist, btw, and I normally give some amount of leeway but...this just wasn't good. it all kept pulling me out of the story which is very hard to do. which the plot isn't awful...but when you throw in the bs it downgrades it to a 2 star story.

Historia
Deep in the African rain forest, near the legendary ruins of the Lost City of Zinj, an expedition of eight American geologists are mysteriously and brutally killed in a matter of minutes. Ten thousand miles away, Karen Ross, the Congo Project Supervisor, watches a gruesome video transmission of the aftermath: a camp destroyed, tents crushed and torn, equipment scattered in the mud alongside dead bodies - all motionless except for one moving image - a grainy, dark, man-shaped blur.

I love the movie
Revisado: 07-10-22
I loved this movie as a kid and watched it a million times. I just realized that it was a book. I was quite disappointed in this book. it wasn't nearly as good as the movie, which I have only said a very few times in my life.
some things didn't make sense at all. Karen Ross faints at one point. um no, she is a bad ass. so no...I liked in the movie that they made her much more of a bad ass.
also the droning on and on about super technical things...ugh. when the importance of the blue diamonds is being explained toward the 3nd of the book...I felt like it was a lecture and the professor kept repeating themselves.

Historia
On a snowy winter evening in 1982, 21-year-old Mary Brown accepted a ride from a handsome stranger in the resort town of Breckenridge, Colorado. The trip ended with her brutally beaten and raped. Mary survived, but her predator's violence had only just begun. After 10 years in prison, Tom Luther was released a far more vicious criminal. Soon, from the Rockies to West Virginia, like Ted Bundy, Luther enticed a chain of women into his murderous trap.

repetitive
Revisado: 09-02-21
at the end Steve says this is his first book so I cut him some slack and gave him 4 stars. it is so repetitive. sometimes I would just tune it out. the flow isn't very good. it's like it was disorganized or something. or maybe it seems that way because there are so many lying witnesses...
I listened to no stone unturned and it was much better.
but if you are looking for detailed info on the case, well you'll definitely are in the right place

This book...well, it just wasn't what I expected. Probably should read the full description next time. Even though it wasn't what I was expecting, it was a very awesome read. I thought it was clever and unique. Can't wait to read the next book in the series and see where this all goes from here.

Historia
Detective Angie Pallorino took down a serial killer permanently and, according to her superiors, with excessive force. Benched on a desk assignment for twelve months, Angie struggles to maintain her sense of identity—if she's not a detective, who is she? Then a decades-old cold case washes ashore, pulling her into an investigation she recognizes as deeply personal. Angie's lover and partner, James Maddocks, sees it, too. But spearheading an ongoing probe into a sex-trafficking ring while keeping Angie's increasing obsession with her case in check is taking its toll.

Very intriguing
Revisado: 06-29-18
Reader: This is the second book of the series, of course, so I am used to Julie's voice by now. At first it was a little annoying but I've listened to a few readers since then and I've come to appreciate her monotone voice during non-dialogue/non-intense scenes and then her gripping reading during intense scenes/dialogue. Her voices for different charaters are quite impressive as well.
Book: I really love the book. I kind of suspected a few of the big plot twists just from small clues in the first book, but there were still some surprises thrown in there. I really enjoy the imagery and character development that is characteristic of White's books. A few sex scenes, but I didn't find them silly or overwhelming. They were very well written and didn't take up too much of the story.
