Historia
For more than two years, BBC Radio 4's The Archers ran a disturbing storyline centred on Helen Tichener's abuse at the hands of her husband Rob. Not the kind of abuse that leaves a bruise, but the sort of coercive control that breaks your spirit and makes it almost impossible to walk away. As she listened to the unfolding story, Helen Walmsley-Johnson was forced to confront her own agonising past. Helen's first husband controlled her life, from the people she saw to what was in her bank account.

Historia
Leslie Morgan Steiner met the love of her life at age 22, soon after graduating from Harvard and starting her first job at Seventeen magazine in New York. She fell for his self-deprecating wit and street smarts - and especially his unabashed worship of her. They married and spent four years together. At first Leslie felt like the woman of his dreams. Then she discovered her husband had been beaten as a child, taught by his parents that intimacy and rage danced together.

so neglectful of her dog it was sickening
Revisado: 02-15-22
She loved her dog the same way her abusive ex loved her: selfishly. She fed him chocolate every day--even though the most casual of dog owners does enough of the bare minimum research to know its highly toxic. Eventually she killed him with it--and waited three DAYS after he became sick for the last time to bother bringing him to the vet. She admitted to leaving him alone for long periods--without seeming to even recognize how terrifying this is for a dog. She regularly drove with him for 12 hour stretches and said it made him carsick enough to vomit--without bothering to get medicine from the vet to easily prevent his discomfort. She left him alone in a moving van to spend the night. Any dog owner knows that new places are scary for a dog if they don't have their person with them because they don't know where they are and if you are coming back or not. As for her cat? She left her alone in an apartment for six MONTHS. If this was because she was sick or something, then ok but it was so she could stay at her new boyfriend's. Then sounded like she thought it was perfectly fine since she went home to "feed it once a WEEK." Can you imagine how lonely and scared the cat was? No living creature deserves abuse, but in their self-centered "love," her and her ex were perfect for each other. If you're so narcissistic as to not even be able to comprehend the suffering of your animals, the least you can do is give them to someone who would. It was sickening.
