Historia
In lyric, accessible prose, Carlo Rovelli invites us to consider questions about the nature of time that continue to puzzle physicists and philosophers alike. For most listeners, this is unfamiliar terrain. We all experience time, but the more scientists learn about it, the more mysterious it appears. We think of it as uniform and universal, moving steadily from past to future, measured by clocks. Rovelli tears down these assumptions one by one, revealing a strange universe where, at the most fundamental level, time disappears.

Historia
Crime reporter Eve Singer's career is on the downward slope when a spate of bizarre murders - each carefully orchestrated and advertised like performance art - begin in her territory. Covering these very public crimes revives her byline, and when the killer contacts Eve to discuss her coverage of his crimes, she is suddenly on the inside of the biggest murder investigation of the decade. But as the killer becomes increasingly obsessed with her, Eve realizes there's a thin line between inside information and becoming an accomplice to murder.

Fabulous story
Revisado: 02-14-24
According to Physics, big objects need a lot of initial energy to get going. This is a big object. I do appreciate how Bauer gives each character depth enough to stick to me long after the last scene. And the end is worth every minute. Terrific writing and a lot of gruesome details, which I usually dislike but can grit my teeth through with Bauer.

Historia
Felix Pink is retired. Widowed for more than a decade and a painfully literal thinker, he has led a life of routine. He occupies himself volunteering as an Exiteer - someone who sits with terminally ill people as they die by suicide, assisting with logistics and lending moral support. When Felix lets himself into Number 3 Black Lane, he’s there to keep a dying man company as he takes his final breath. But just 15 minutes later, Felix is on the run from the police. Now he must discover whether what went wrong was a simple mistake - or deliberate, a murder.

A Mind-blowing Account of Brooklyn's Pride
Revisado: 08-19-22
Hugh Ryan is the perfect narrator of his own book. Serious with an occasionally campy inflection, scholarly when not hilariously funny, and entertainingly educational. He brings to life the multifaceted characters of Brooklyn's queer history, from Crane Hart to Truman Capote. Guaranteed to make your drive worth every minute.

Many replicas of the Mona Lisa exist, and more than one historian has wondered if the painting now returned to the Louvre is a fake, switched in 1911. Present day: Art professor Luke Perrone digs for the truth behind his most famous ancestor: Peruggia. His search attracts an Interpol detective with something to prove and an unfamiliar but curiously helpful woman. Soon, Luke tumbles deep into the world of art and forgery, a land of obsession and danger.

A good tale beautifully read
Revisado: 08-06-22
As usual, Edoardo Ballerini does not disappoint. The story is a perfect summer listen while being educational enough, convoluted enough, and romantic enough. A bit too much violent for me but seldom on center stage.

The plot is wonderful, the pace a delight, the language being compare, and then, of course, there's Eduardo Ballerini. Some have said they find it slow, but this is literature, not a mystery, and I felt plenty of tension throughout.

Historia
With ravishing beauty and unsettling intelligence, Michael Ondaatje's Booker Prize-winning novel traces the intersection of four damaged lives in an Italian villa at the end of World War II. Hana, the exhausted nurse; the maimed thief, Caravaggio; the wary sapper, Kip: each is haunted by the riddle of the English patient, the nameless, burned man who lies in an upstairs room and whose memories of passion, betrayal, and rescue illuminates this audiobook like flashes of heat lightening.

Revisado: 04-20-22
The plot is not a mirror of the movie, which gives the story a refreshing element of surprise. Fiennes's voice is a perfect companion to the rich, elegant, and literary writing. Guaranteed to be a pleasure. Yes, it's abridged, but I didn't mind a bit.

Early O'Brian Is Great Fun and Tragedy
Revisado: 09-22-21
I've read all of I'm Brianna works, some multiple times. This like early sketch of the relationship between Jack Aubrey and Stephen Maturin in O'Brian's later works, which is interesting in itself. It also offers very humorous vignettes and a long, horrific cottage asking the Horn. I'm sorry, lots of bang for your buck.
