Historia
Mercer Mann, a popular writer from Camino Island, is back on the beach, marrying her boyfriend, Thomas, in a seaside ceremony. Bruce Cable, infamous owner of Bay Books, performs the wedding. Afterward, Bruce tells Mercer that he has stumbled upon an incredible story. Mercer desperately needs an idea for her next novel, and Bruce now has one. The true story is about Dark Isle, a sliver of a barrier island not far off the North Florida coast. It was settled by freed slaves three hundred years ago, and their descendants lived there until 1955, when the last one was forced to leave.

Meet Eleanor Oliphant: She struggles with appropriate social skills and tends to say exactly what she's thinking. Nothing is missing in her carefully timetabled life of avoiding social interactions, where weekends are punctuated by frozen pizza, vodka, and phone chats with Mummy. Took time to warm up, but ended wondefully
Revisado: 11-18-22
It took me 2 or 3 chapters to warm up to the main character. She doesn't seem likable. Her back story is very slow to unfold. But it does slowly bloom and the reader is given insight to the mind and thoughts of someone almost irreparable damaged. Frequently, her thoughts are hilarious, in the British humor sort of way. I the end, I was very glad I read it.

Historia
For years, rumors of the "Marsh Girl" have haunted Barkley Cove, a quiet town on the North Carolina coast. So in late 1969, when handsome Chase Andrews is found dead, the locals immediately suspect Kya Clark, the so-called Marsh Girl. But Kya is not what they say. Sensitive and intelligent, she has survived for years alone in the marsh that she calls home, finding friends in the gulls and lessons in the sand.

WOW!
Revisado: 10-08-22
The story is truly immersive., told gently and softly. I found myself sneaking time to listen. The descriptions of the time, place and people ring true. A truly fulfilling story.

Fantastic performance.
Revisado: 07-22-22
Having been raised in TN, I appreciated the performances of the readers, who were perfect. The story will make me do a little research of my own into a part of TN history that I barely knew. I was captivated to the very last word of the book. absolutely wonderful book.

Historia
In 1999, Emmon Bodfish was murdered in his home in the wealthy enclave of Orinda, California, just east of San Francisco. For the young crime-scene analyst Paul Holes, it quickly became the most bizarre and surprising case of his storied career. It was immediately clear how Emmon had died: by being hit over the head with a heavy object. What wasn’t clear was who did it and why.

Interesting....but leaves me with quesrions
Revisado: 06-07-21
Very engaging, but I struggled with quesrions that were never addressed, such as Max's father. Not sure I would have listened if I had known there's no resolution. Nonetheless, I am glad I listened.
