Historia
Here, anthropologist David Graeber presents a stunning reversal of conventional wisdom: He shows that before there was money, there was debt. For more than 5,000 years, since the beginnings of the first agrarian empires, humans have used elaborate credit systems to buy and sell goods - that is, long before the invention of coins or cash. It is in this era, Graeber argues, that we also first encounter a society divided into debtors and creditors.

A must read for anyone curious about economics
Revisado: 09-13-22
A dense academic history of the social and material relationships our species has with the concept of debt. While technical and clinical, David Graeber makes this work supeisingly approachable for beginers and advanced students of economics. In my opinion this book should be required reading for everyone, not just econ majors.

Historia
As a botanist and professor of plant ecology, Robin Wall Kimmerer has spent a career learning how to ask questions of nature using the tools of science. As a Potawatomi woman, she learned from elders, family, and history that the Potawatomi, as well as a majority of other cultures indigenous to this land, consider plants and animals to be our oldest teachers.

Revisado: 09-14-21
in the time of climate chaos it is necessary for us all to take a moment to pause and return to Nature and acknowledge just how out of balance we have become with the natural world. this book is a magnificent glimpse into the way things once were and how they must be again if we are to survive as a species

Historia
Coffee has never been better, or more interesting, than it is today. Coffee producers have access to more varieties and techniques than ever before, and we, as consumers, can share in that expertise to make sure the coffee we drink is the best we can find. Champion barista and coffee expert James Hoffmann examines these key factors, looking at varieties of coffee, the influence of terroir, how it is harvested and processed, the roasting methods used, through to the way in which the beans are brewed.

I absolutely adore this book with one fatal flaw
Revisado: 07-12-21
Sadly the chapter titles are only numerical. There is no header as to what they contain and for a more academic work that is a fatal flaw for this audiobook. While I have enjoyed listening to it once I don't think I will ever have the same experience again unless the chapter name issue is fixed. it's unusable as a source of information in its current state

Historia
Orwell's own experiences inspire this semi-autobiographical novel about a man living in Paris in the early 1930s without a penny. The narrator's poverty brings him into contact with strange incidents and characters, which he manages to chronicle with great sensitivity and graphic power. The latter half of the book takes the English narrator to his home city, London, where the world of poverty is different in externals only.

Absolutely magnificent
Revisado: 07-07-21
in my opinion this is one of George Orwell's greatest works because of the Shadows just how dedicated he was to Accurate first person storytelling. the most shocking part of everything is hearing how little has actually changed since the 1930s. Chapter 22 spoke to me to me significantly.
