Queen Sati rules her city with wisdom and grace. She has the respect of her people, knowledge of the gods, and faith that her plans to lead them into a brighter tomorrow are ready to take place. Ahm is a teen coming into her own. Living near the market square of the city with her mother, the girl’s insight, compassion, and beauty has everyone she comes in contact with seeing her as a jewel of Egypt. When a chance encounter between the two turns into a friendship, both will be tested beyond what they could have imagined, or wanted.

Loved it!
Revisado: 02-15-22
Loved the way that Jewish parables were woven into the story! I loved the characters! Queen Sahti is such a model of what true nobility is. And the the struggle of being stuck between a rock and a hard place.... The hard choices that must be made..... It was a delightful and exciting story all the way through!
The reader of this audiobook did an incredible job! I listen to a lot of audiobooks and I rank the performance of this reading to be on par with the big name actors and audiobook performers!
It is a top quality production!

Historia
Two different lives...Two different hopes...Only one will survive...Tanel, a quiet poet born into the battle-driven clan of Mil'chama. The heavily trained boy struggles to find his way, wishing for a more peaceful existence. Vinn, a young man tired of watching his people suffer because they’re ill-prepared to defend themselves. The warrior at heart has had enough and is ready to fight back. As the two stand on the opposing sides of the battlefield, face to face, one of these coming-of-age stories will have an early end. One will die at the hands of the other. The question is which?

This is a delightful story despite the fact that the narrator is a bit dull

Honestly could be a much better production

My biggest complaint is with the reader of this audiobook. His voice is boring. He sounds bored. He doesn't sound like he's reading an adventure story; he sounds like he's reading an accounting ledger.
The story starts off kinda slow and on audio I found it hard to track what exactly was going on and who the characters were and what the environment was like to give context to the story. But once I finally got to the climax of the story I was hooked. The part near the end where you have two characters with the same goal, but different means to that goal and they end up sabotaging each other's plans. That makes for a great story!
