Historia
The setting is the Georgia wilderness, where the state's most remote white-water river awaits. In the thundering froth of that river, in its echoing stone canyons, four men on a canoe trip discover a freedom and exhilaration beyond compare. And then, in a moment of horror, the adventure turns into a struggle for survival as one man becomes a human hunter who is offered his own harrowing deliverance.

Goes beyond the movie
Revisado: 08-06-18
I've read the novel and watched the movie several times, now listening to it, I still felt like the story was new to me. The narrator does a great job capturing the essence of the story and I would recommend to anyone who has seen the movie before!

As with every other Longmire book in the series, the story had me laughing and intrigued. I knocked this one out on a road trip and even though my back ached, I had to stay in the car 10 more minutes to find out the outcome!

Sad to finally be done with the series!
Revisado: 01-05-18
I really enjoyed these books, buying and listening to the whole series over the last month or so. Great job by both Keith McCafferty, with his depictive stories, and by Rick Holmes for narrating every book in the series and making me laugh inwardly every time he says "current."

Martin and his friends discovered that their world is computer generated and that by altering the code they could alter reality. They traveled back in time to Medieval England to live as wizards. Almost everything they've done since then has, in one way or another, blown up in their faces. So of course they decide to make dragons. It does not go well.

A dull fourth entry in the series
Revisado: 12-06-17
Having listened to the entire series thus far, this book seemed rather slow and uninteresting compared to the previous three. I kept thinking the storyline would evolve beyond the very basic plot, but it never did. The child's voice is very annoying as well, which I suppose makes it realistic, but ultimately I found myself ready for this book to be finished hours before it actually was.

Getting hooked on this series
Revisado: 12-06-17
Love the characters in this series, so glad I found these books. As an avid fly fisherman and hiker I'm really enjoying the balance between the story and the beautifully depicted landscapes.

Historia
When Desert Solitaire was first published in 1968, it became the focus of a nationwide cult. Rude and sensitive. Thought-provoking and mystical. Angry and loving. Both Abbey and this book are all of these and more. Here, the legendary author of The Monkey Wrench Gang, Abbey's Road and many other critically acclaimed books vividly captures the essence of his life during three seasons as a park ranger in southeastern Utah.

Pinyon Pine
Revisado: 11-15-17
I've wanted to read/listen to this book for a while but sheesh, what a bore. I've seen Abbey quotes from this book pop up in many of the forums I frequent concerning backpacking and outdoor conservation, but frankly, those are the only highlights of the book. The author constantly seems to ramble on, especially when he goes on "naming" sprees, and my only guess is that he thought it would make the book seem more artistic. And he loves to bash mankind and it's impact on the wilderness, a sentiment I can normally embrace, but then he does pointless things like killing an animal just to see it die.
The only thing I would recommend this book for is to drink every time you hear the author say "Pinyon Pine." Maybe then you'll pass out before having to endure the rest of the book. The narrator, though not entirely his fault due to the subject matter, just made the author's words seem even more like the ramblings of a cranky old man.

Revisado: 02-19-16
I read the whole series within a few weeks and loved it. The characters drew me in and I found myself both cursing and thanking the author as he wove different twists into the plot of the third book. It's bloody damn brilliant, so do yourself a favor and listen to the whole trilogy.
