Historia
Abramm Kalladorne has returned to Kiriath to claim the crown he thought he would never wear and to prepare his people for the inevitable attack of the armies of the Black Moon. Though fiercely opposed by his own kin and reluctant to thrust his country into civil war at the worst possible time, he nevertheless believes this course of action is Kiriath's only hope of salvation.

It was better than the first.
Revisado: 04-09-25
Light of Eidon was honestly hard to get though, but this one was better. Still one trial after another, after another, (not to mention the narrator still seems new to this), but there were at least some lighter moments in this tale to soften all the hardship. I'm looking forward to the next one.

Abramm has dedicated the last eight years of his life to becoming worthy to touch and tend the Sacred Flames of Eidon, and he expects to be blessed for his devotion and sacrifice. But on the eve of taking the vows that will irrevocably separate him from the life he was born to—as Abramm Kalladorne, fifth son of the king of Kiriath—he is betrayed by his spiritual mentor and sold into slavery by his brothers.

Her first book was wonderful. This one felt a little weak, but maybe it was just the narrator.
Revisado: 07-27-24
So I love her first book Arena. I have enjoyed that book both in paper and audio several times and will visit it again soon. This one felt very confusing and the storyline felt weak. Maybe it was the narrator, maybe he is new to narrating tales. There seemed to be so many parts that weren't relevant to the overall story, so many questions that took way too long to be answered and the characters kept doing things that didn't feel natural. Again maybe the narrator just hasn't developed a wide catalog of emotions to use while story telling or maybe there was just a lot of filler in this book. There was also no humor and very few bright spots. It was one trial after another drudgery after another trial and more drudgery. I wanted to wisk the characters out of the book just to give them a break... maybe book 2 will be different.

Wasn't expecting so much sensuality.
Revisado: 11-13-23
I listened to The Aeuronauts Windlass 6 or 7 times. I love this world. I love the cats and how marvelously they are given such personality and culture. Euan Morton's performance is most excellent, but I regretfully will not finish this book. I'm on chapter 20 and there have been three sensual scenes so far. I'm stopping there. There were none at all in the first book. A story does not need such things to be excellent. I'm sad.

Historia
Benedict Sorellin-Lancaster hasn't even broken in his lieutenant's insignia when he's summoned to meet with the Spirearch of Spire Albion himself for a very special—and very secret—purpose. The Spirearch needs Benedict to retrieve a bag he's "misplaced" on the Colony Spire known as Dependence, which has strangely cut off all contact with the outside world. It's a delicate mission at best, a potential bloodbath at worst. To this end, the Spirearch has supplied Benedict with backup in the form of three Warriorborn.

Wonderful characters, excellent narrator!
Revisado: 09-22-23
This book is a bit more adult than the first. I was disappointed in that and will have to skip those parts if listening when my kids are in ear shot.
Overall though, this story is lovely. I have been sooo excited to continue this adventure. Excellent writing, wonderful characters and Euan Morton's performance is as good as it gets, in my opinion.

I really enjoy watching Ted Cunningham on YouTube, but the book was hard to get through. The tone of the narrator was more....wistful?..maybe, less real.

Wonderful Tale and a Great Reminder
Revisado: 01-17-23
I first read this book in highschool, and had always checked every few years to see if it ever became and audio book.
It's a great tale of adventure, loyalty and romance with an imaginative sci-fi setting and an excellent reminder of walking as a Christ follower. Amazing, but with many hazards.
I started working at a school this year and recommended it to one of the highschool students. She read it in 2 days. That's when I checked again to see if there was an audio book. I was delighted to find this 20th anniversary edition!

I had a hard time relating to most examples.
Revisado: 12-23-22
I feel this book would be useful to many couples out there, but I personally did not relate to the majority of examples given for marriages and husbands.
This book would help women who have unengaged husbands. Whether it be because of career, sports, escapism, or just plain clueless and selfish behaviors, this is the book for you. This book would also be good for women who feel their husbands ignore them.
My husband is very mature, highly respectful, and highly engaged, but I still feel we struggle to know how to share and communicate. I will keep looking for that advice I guess.

Historia
Who are we...really? As depression and addiction become more commonplace in today’s culture, it seems we have lost sight of who we actually are. Like a whale on a beach, too many of us are finding ourselves breathing shallow, feeling stranded and alone. The truth is we can cut free from the things that hold us back if we can catch a clear vision of the true character of God. And like a mighty redwood tree, we can choose to live healthy lives filled with purpose, rising confidently above the chaos.

While the Druid of Blackthorn searches desperately for hope, the Ovate returns from the underworld bringing omens of despair. Interesting concept, but it felt incomplete.
Revisado: 10-07-20
(Don't Worry! No Spoilers.)
Nearly the entire story was the inner monologue of the main character and what he was doing. It might be better in book form then to listened to, but having the unvaried voice for so much of the book was just not what I was used to.
I picked this book by the recommendation of my favorite musician and writer. The story was interesting, had a good concept and had lovely descriptions of the backdrops, but as a whole it felt a bit dry and left so many questions. There were somethings that seemed to have no explanation and some things that had so much detail it was confusing. I will listen to it again. Maybe it will make more sense 2nd time around.
