Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I would totally recommend this book to all my friends. If you like action, adventure and a little bit of romance (very little bit) this will be a book that you'll want to hear.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Furies of Calderon?

The most memorable moment is when Fade steps forward to defend Tavi to the extreme shock of the swordsman he was fighting. In that moment when the swordsman - says you can't be Araris Valerian it was very moving and very fitting since it was a mystery as to why Fade had insisted on going along with Tavi. That particular moment is the one that sticks with me the most.

I must admit that Jim Butcher is an amazing author for not just inventing the world of the Codex Alera but there are so many moments and scenes that were memorable.

Which scene was your favorite?

My favorite scene was the battle at the end of the novel. The whole series of events that lead up to it and the climax where it all comes down to one Marat and Tavi. It was especially funny when Tavi yells out "Hey Uncle Bernard, he followed me home, can I keep him?"

Even at the peak of the action and climax in the story, Jim Butcher was able to add in the humor.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Completely! However, since the book was over twenty hours long I was unable to do so. The story pulls you into the world of Alera and Kate Reading does a fantastic job of captivating the audience. Each character had a unique voice and it kept you wrapped up in the story.

Any additional comments?

This is a book that you will want to listen to over and over again. Each time I listen to this book I pick up on new details that I had missed during previous tiem you listend to the story.

Where does Kiss of Death rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

This is a pretty good book, but it isn't exceptional. The story is very unique even for the Morganville series, but even that can’t put this audiobook to the front of the pack. The audio performance just isn’t completely there. After originally reading the book myself, the audio performance of this book felt flat. (Which is a strange occurrence since I always read the book before purchasing the audiobook.)

Who was your favorite character and why?

Claire as always is my favorite character, however, Oliver needs some love after his role in this book. Evil as always Oliver crushes the hopes and dreams of our beloved heroes at the end of the book. Yet, we definitely see some character development and growth with Oliver leaving everyone (readers and heroes alike) wondering if Oliver isn't the stereotypical villain he presents himself as.

What about Cynthia Holloway’s performance did you like?

I really didn't like the performance. It just rubbed me the wrong way.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I loved the book. It took us out of Morganville but proved that while you can leave the crazy vampire town behind the crazy will still chase you down and try to kill you. The end of the book was the most emotional for me since we were able to see the characters enjoy life out of Morganville only to have to go back once again.

If you could sum up Ghost Town in three words, what would they be?

Don't Forget Me

What did you like best about this story?

I enjoyed the fact that in this book Claire is treated like the other residents of Morganville. In Rachel Cain's opening she states that the residents of the Glass House are seen/treated differently than the other residents in Morganville. They do not live under the protection of a vampire - Michael doesn't count - yet they do not usually have the same ramifications than other residents of Morganville would face in a similar situation. I believe that this is because Amelie recognizes what an asset Claire's mind is to their town.

However, in this book we see Claire kill a vampire, which is a capital offense regardless of the situation surrounding the kill. She is sentenced to work until she completes the "project" or dies trying, with absolutely no rest. Claire, being Claire is able to complete the project but it takes some time to realize that there is something wrong with what she created.

Seeing Claire's flaws made her more real as a character, since she doesn't really make any huge mistakes like she did in this book.

Which scene was your favorite?

My favorite scene was when Michael didn't remember the last few years and wondered who Claire was and what she was doing in his parent's house.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

The past is right around the corner.

Any additional comments?

Cynthia Halloway does not disappoint. As usual she does a wonderful job with the performance of this story.

Would you consider the audio edition of Glass Houses to be better than the print version?

I like the audio edition of Glass Houses better than the print since the performance by Cynthia Holloway gives the story more energy. Rachel Caine really out did herself with this series and honestly I will continue to reread this book both in ebook and audiobook format.

Have you listened to any of Cynthia Holloway’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I have listened to several of Cynthia Holloway's other performances and Glass Houses was not the first time I listened to her work. However Claire, the narrator of this series is instantly who I think of when I hear her voice.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

Welcome to Morganville. You'll never want to leave.

And even if you do…; well, you can't.

Sorry about that.

(Rachel Caine - Fade Out)

Any additional comments?

If you're a fan of the young adult vampire novels this series will be for you. It's fun and completely different from anything else like it. Most books either have the vampires as either lost souls in look for redemption or the love of an innocent girl.

This is not one of those series.

I really don't want to spoil the series but two things that really stand out about the debut novel of this series.

First the situation surrounding Michael Glass is very unique and I've never read any other series with anything like that happening to one of the main characters. Sorry I'm not going to say anything more, you're going to have to read the story your self if you want to know why Michael is a night owl that hasn't been seen out of his house in about a year.

The second awesome thing about this series is that the vampires run Morganville more like an organized crime syndicate runs their turf. Only the people that live in Morganville (basically for life) know about the vampires. But if they leave for some reason their memory that there are vampires there disappears. Even the people who live there and go to college at TPU do not know about the vampires that live right next door.

It's really an interesting concept. Give this series a try, I'm sure you'll love it.
